We are building a new, dedicated product team for a large-scale mobile application that connects software with the physical world — devices, sensors, and real-time data — and we are looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join from the ground up. This is a greenfield team setup — you will have direct influence on how the team works, what standards it follows, and how the product evolves. The application is built natively in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose, with a strong focus on offline-first architecture and reliable hardware integrations.
We need people who own their work end-to-end — engineers who have designed and implemented features from concept through production, who are comfortable modernizing legacy code (Java → Kotlin, XML → Compose), and who don't stop at the API layer: Bluetooth devices, external SDKs, and real-time data flows are part of the daily job. Your Android expertise will be essential, but equally important is your ability to take a loosely defined problem and deliver a working, well-crafted solution.
Your Responsibilities:
🔹 Design, develop, and maintain application screens and components using Jetpack Compose
🔹 Own features end-to-end — from design and architecture, through implementation, to production support and bugfixing
🔹 Integrate with external hardware and SDKs (Bluetooth-enabled devices, scanners, RFID readers) and ensure stable, reliable connectivity
🔹 Build offline-first functionality — local databases, data synchronization, and graceful handling of poor or missing connectivity
🔹 Implement real-time features (live data views, dynamic pagination, syncing views to changing data) with high performance in Compose
🔹 Modernize existing code — migrate legacy Java/RxJava code to Kotlin/Coroutines and XML layouts to Jetpack Compose
🔹 Own Android-specific platform integrations (permissions, push notifications, camera capture, deep linking, app lifecycle)
🔹 Integrate with backend services over REST and GraphQL, including import/export flows and offline data copies
🔹 Collaborate on architecture decisions and help establish best practices for the codebase
🔹 Write clean, testable, and well-documented code
🔹 Conduct thorough code reviews focused on quality, consistency, and shared standards
🔹 Collaborate closely with backend teams, QA, product managers, and designers in a cross-functional product team
Who Are We Looking For?
✅ Minimum 5 years of professional experience in native Android development
✅ Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin (Java background welcome)
✅ Strong, hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose in production applications
✅ Deep practical knowledge of Kotlin Coroutines and asynchronous programming
✅ Experience integrating with external hardware over Bluetooth and/or vendor SDKs (e.g. barcode/RFID scanners, fitness devices, payment terminals)
✅ Solid experience with local databases (Room, SQLDelight) and building offline-first applications
✅ Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs (Retrofit, Apollo Android)
✅ Hands-on experience with dependency injection frameworks (Dagger, Hilt, Kodein, or Koin)
✅ Proven track record of migrating legacy codebases (Java → Kotlin, XML → Compose)
✅ Strong knowledge of Android platform specifics: lifecycle, permissions, notifications, Play Store distribution
✅ Ownership mindset — responsible for outcomes, not just tasks, with a proactive, can-do approach to problem-solving; experience designing and delivering features independently
✅ Clear communicator and collaborative team player, comfortable working in a new and evolving team
✅ Fluency in Polish and communicative English (min. B2, written and spoken)
✅ Availability for occasional on-site sessions in Warsaw (workshops, kickoffs, planning events)
✅ Growth mindset with continuous learning and openness to new tools and approaches
Nice to Have:
✅ Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) or Compose Multiplatform — or willingness to grow into it
✅ Experience with navigation/architecture libraries such as Appyx or Simple Stack
✅ Experience with maps and location-based features (Mapbox, Google Maps)
✅ Experience building kiosk-mode or dedicated-device (enterprise) applications
✅ Familiarity with Molecule or other reactive state-production patterns
✅ Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot)
✅ Experience with CI/CD tools for mobile applications (GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Fastlane)
✅ C/C++ and NDK experience
✅ Experience working at scale (large user base, complex systems)
✅ Experience joining or building a team from scratch
