Role Overview The Senior Art Director is a senior visual leader responsible for shaping the creative direction and execution of Tribe X campaigns and productions. This role translates high-level strategy into distinctive visual worlds that balance brand storytelling, campaign objectives, cultural relevance, platform behaviour, and premium aesthetics. Beyond leading individual executions, the Senior Art Director establishes visual standards, guides creative teams, and ensures consistency across campaigns, productions, and content ecosystems. The Senior Art Director is expected to confidently present and defend creative decisions, provide clear direction to multidisciplinary teams, and identify creative or production risks before they affect quality or delivery. The role also contributes to strengthening Tribe X’s overall creative capabilities by mentoring junior talent and continuously evolving the agency’s visual language. What You’ll Do Creative Direction & Visual Leadership Lead the visual direction of major campaigns, shoots, branded content, and integrated creative projects from concept through final execution. Translate brand and campaign strategies into distinctive visual worlds, creative territories, and scalable campaign systems. Develop and communicate clear visual narratives that connect audience insight, cultural relevance, and business objectives. Establish visual standards across all outputs and ensure consistency throughout the campaign ecosystem. Review and elevate creative work produced by art directors, designers, editors, and external creative partners. Make confident visual decisions and provide clear, actionable feedback throughout the creative process. Ensure visual systems respond effectively to audience behaviour, platform expectations, and campaign objectives. Protect visual clarity, structural hierarchy, and platform fit by ensuring all baseline design deliverables pass the following framework gates: Level 0 (Valid): The deliverable is structurally sound, clear, complete, and appropriate for its intended platform. Level 1 (Polished): The deliverable demonstrates refined visual execution, a clear hierarchy, consistency, and the level of craft required for internal approval or client presentation. Partner with the Associate Creative Director and other senior creative leaders to strengthen the overall quality and consistency of Tribe X’s creative output. Concept Development & Creative Storytelling Lead the development of campaign concepts and visual territories that can extend across multiple formats, platforms, and audience touchpoints. Design environments and visual experiences that balance product focus, storytelling, and premium aesthetics. Create and oversee mood boards, treatment decks, styling references, prop lists, composition guidelines, and visual direction systems. Ensure every production environment and creative choice supports the intended narrative and campaign objective. Build scalable visual systems that maintain creative consistency while allowing flexibility across content ecosystems. Collaborate with copywriters, strategists, and other creative disciplines to ensure visual and verbal storytelling work as one cohesive idea. Present concepts and visual recommendations clearly to internal stakeholders and clients, confidently explaining the strategic thinking behind creative decisions. Production & Execution Leadership Provide senior creative leadership throughout pre-production, production, and post-production. Lead visual execution during shoots, ensuring the approved concept is translated accurately and effectively on set. Collaborate closely with photographers, directors, videographers, stylists, producers, editors, designers, and external partners. Approve key visual decisions related to casting, styling, set design, framing, composition, lighting, props, and shot execution. Ensure every visual detail aligns with the approved creative direction and expected quality standards. Anticipate creative and production risks and proactively recommend solutions before they affect quality, timing, or budget. Drive modular layout concepting and plan for flexible component swaps, including hooks, first frames, titles, and compositions, to support real-time media testing without requiring complete layout rebuilding. Provide clear and complete creative handovers to design, editing, production, and media teams. Maintain creative quality while making practical decisions within production timelines, budgets, and resource constraints. Team Leadership & Creative Development Mentor and guide art directors, designers, and junior creative team members. Provide structured feedback that improves both the immediate output and the team member’s long-term creative capability. Support the Associate Creative Director in reviewing work, allocating creative responsibilities, and maintaining quality across multiple projects. Help establish stronger creative processes, templates, references, and review standards across the department. Encourage clear thinking, creative accountability, and attention to detail within the team. Create an environment where team members can contribute ideas, challenge thinking constructively, and continuously improve their craft. Identify development opportunities and capability gaps within the visual creative team. Cross-Functional & Client Collaboration Act as a senior creative partner to Strategy, Accounts, Production, Media, and other internal teams. Ensure creative direction remains aligned with client objectives, strategic insights, production realities, and media requirements. Participate in senior client presentations, creative reviews, and production alignment discussions. Present and defend creative recommendations with clarity, confidence, and strategic reasoning. Respond constructively to client feedback while protecting the integrity and effectiveness of the creative idea. Resolve creative misalignment across teams and escalate significant risks when required. Contribute creative thinking to pitches, proactive opportunities, and strategic account development. Trend, Culture & Creative Innovation Maintain a strong understanding of global design, hospitality, fashion, entertainment, technology, and visual culture. Translate emerging creative movements into sophisticated and commercially relevant work rather than following trends superficially. Continuously evolve the visual language of Tribe X campaigns and productions. Monitor changing luxury aesthetics, platform behaviours, and audience expectations across premium markets. Encourage experimentation while ensuring innovation remains intentional, brand appropriate, and strategically grounded.
