Duties: Assist Principals in project management, project development, and staff development by assuming day-to-day management responsibility for specific projects or aspects of projects, including budgeting and communication of status to the team. Define project goals into specific tasks for the team, supervise the performance of Associates and Research Analysis, and produce work products for review by Principals and clients. Lead and attend internal team meetings with the objective of clarifying the scope of work, checking in on status, and brainstorming issues that arise. Develop methods for analysis that focus on natural systems and economics. This includes geospatial analysis in GIS software (e.g., QGIS), statistical programming, physical system modeling, and economic analysis using a range of tools, including R and Excel, as well as specialized software for water systems modeling (e.g., WEAP). Thematic areas of work include environmental economics, agricultural economics, water resources, flooding and other natural hazards, climate change, natural resources damage assessment, greenhouse gas accounting, and corporate sustainability. Write reports and prepare presentations that summarize findings of research, analysis, modeling, and synthesis of the work conducted. Review the work of Associates and Research Analysis for quality control and quality assurance. Apply specialized knowledge to conduct research and analysis. Client engagement, including leading regular meetings with clients, delivering presentations on inception activities as well as on interim and final results, and responding to comments and requests on deliverables. Business development, including drafting proposals and meeting with prospective clients, and firm management, including internal company meetings, staff reviews, recruiting, and staff welfare. Requirements: Master’s degree in Economics, Urban Planning, Public Policy, Civil Engineering or related field (or foreign degree equivalent) and at least 2 years of professional experience with economic, scientific, or policy analysis. Required Skills: At least 2 years of experience conducting quantitative data analysis using statistical or scientific programming languages (SQL, R, Python, or Stata); At least 2 years of experience applying economic modeling techniques, including cost-benefit analysis or natural resource damage assessment; At least 2 years of experience using spreadsheet tools such as Microsoft Excel for modeling, data analysis, and scenario forecasting; At least 2 years of experience contributing to business development activities and evaluating business strategies; Demonstrated ability managing project teams and mentoring junior analysts or research staff; Demonstrated ability preparing and presenting written reports of analytical findings; Demonstrated ability developing or managing geospatial analysis using GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS or similar). Telecommuting permissible from home office anywhere in the U.S. Salary: $82,000/year to $112,000/year
