Duties of This Role In this role you will be involved in: Design, build, and deliver scalable, secure backend services and applications. Architect end-to-end backend solutions using modern cloud-native and microservices-based approaches. Write clean, maintainable, and reusable code with a strong focus on quality, performance, and reliability. Champion engineering best practices through code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing. Define and promote effective testing strategies across unit, integration, and service-level testing. Build resilient, scalable, and production-ready systems. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Communicate technical decisions and articulate trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Support the growth of junior engineers through coaching, feedback, and pair programming. Balance delivery pace with technical quality, enabling teams to make informed engineering decisions. Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices by sharing ideas, lessons learned, and emerging technologies. Strong commercial experience developing backend applications in Azure. Experience with Azure API Management (APIM) or similar API gateway technologies. A broad, T-shaped backend skillset with experience across multiple programming languages. Hands-on DevOps experience, including CI/CD, deployment and cloud infrastructure. Strong knowledge of modern backend architectures, including microservices, and event-driven systems. Understanding of secure development practices and standards such as OWASP, GDPR and SOC 2. A pragmatic, forward-thinking approach with a strong interest and enthusiasm for applying AI across the SDLC to enhance engineering practices and advise clients on effective adoption. A passion for clean code, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience mentoring and supporting the development of other engineers.
