We are seeking a Backend Engineer help build secure and scalable microservices using Java and Spring Boot for a major energy company.
Qualifications
5+ years in backend development
Strong production knowledge of Java 21 and Spring Boot 3.x
Experience with microservices, REST APIs, and OpenAPI/Swagger
Working knowledge of gRPC and Protobuf
Good understanding of Kafka-based, event-driven architectures
Experience with PostgreSQL, Azure Cosmos DB, and Redis
Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and role-based access control
Familiarity with JUnit 5, Mockito, and Testcontainers
Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
Ability to integrate with external systems such as OIC, Salesforce, and SAP IS-U
Experience migrating applications from older Java versions, such as Java 11
Excellent English
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Work Conditions
Employment Type: This is a full-time position for candidates who are based in Athens or willing to relocate. Both employees and independent contractors (freelancers) are welcome to apply.
Location: This is a hybrid role with 2 days remote and 3 days on-site at offices in central Athens.
Working Days: Aligned with the standard Greek work schedule.
