ABOUT TEXT2TEST
Text2Test is an AI-powered test automation platform that turns plain-language test scenarios into fully automated web and mobile tests. Teams describe what they want to test in natural language; our platform compiles it into executable steps, runs it on real browsers and mobile devices, and reports the results in real time. Behind the scenes this is powered by a distributed microservice architecture, LLM and vision-model based AI services, and a cloud-native test execution engine covering both web and mobile.
Our platform runs both as a SaaS product on AWS and as on-premise deployments for enterprise customers, including leading banks and insurance companies. We are a small, senior, product-focused engineering team where everyone owns features end to end, from design to production.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our core platform team. You will work on the heart of the product: the Spring Boot microservices that manage tests, executions, billing and real-time reporting, the event-driven flows that connect them over Kafka, and the AI-assistant features built with Spring AI and the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
What you will do:
- Design, build and operate Java / Spring Boot microservices (REST, WebSocket/STOMP, Kafka producers and consumers)
- Develop LLM-powered product features: AI assistant flows, tool calling via MCP, usage metering and cost tracking for AI workloads
- Work with MongoDB, Hazelcast, MinIO/S3 and Keycloak (OAuth2/OIDC) in a distributed setup
- Ship to production on Docker and Kubernetes (AWS EKS) through a GitOps pipeline (Argo CD, GitHub Actions)
- Collaborate closely with our AI/ML (Python) and frontend (React) engineers on cross-service features
- Take ownership of features from design through deployment, monitoring and support
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR (REQUIRED)
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Expert-level Java (17/21+) and deep, hands-on experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Security, Spring Kafka, Spring WebSocket)
- Solid experience designing and operating microservices and REST APIs in production
- Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka
- Experience with NoSQL databases, ideally MongoDB
- Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
- Comfortable with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines
NICE TO HAVE
- Good written and spoken English
- Background or strong interest in software testing and test automation (Playwright, Selenium, Appium, or QA engineering experience)
- Experience integrating LLMs into products (Spring AI, LangChain, OpenAI-compatible APIs, MCP, prompt/tool design)
- Experience with OAuth2/OIDC and identity providers such as Keycloak
- Familiarity with AWS (EKS, S3, CloudFormation) and Helm/Argo CD
- Exposure to TypeScript/Node.js or Python services
- Experience with usage-based billing or payment integrations (e.g. Stripe)
- Experience with distributed caching (Hazelcast) and object storage (MinIO/S3)
