Role Overview As a Senior Category Manager at NHS SBS, one level above Principal, you'll lead a team and take overall responsibility for managing a sub-category within the [Insert] category and its portfolio of frameworks. You'll relish the challenge of developing specific strategic sourcing programs across our client base and leading the delivery of projects within key markets. Responsible for both your own projects and those led by Principal Category Managers whom you line manage, project management skills and demonstrable experience of project delivery are essential to this role. Responsibilities Category Management: · Developing and implementing short and long-term category strategies. · Actively managing the marketplace through the development of key strategies for supplier and contract management. · Undertaking market research to drive change and innovative procurement. · Initiating, coordinating, and conducting research to develop strategic sourcing strategies. · Creating, developing, and managing a category portfolio of compliant solutions, including framework agreements. · Ensuring customer requirements are met and demonstrating best value for money through compliance with category priorities and contracts. · Pursuing procurement excellence through the implementation of efficient and effective procurement projects within key markets. · Providing expert additional knowledge and skills to all clients, serving as the thought leader in the field. · Analysing data and identifying key areas for cost savings and process improvements to inform procurement plans. · Supporting in the delivery of departmental revenue targets, ensuring opportunities for framework growth are identified and implemented. Leadership: · Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of buying staff of different levels. · Managing 1-2 direct reports and enabling staff to deliver, enhance expertise, and build procurement capability. · Delegating effectively. · Confidently presenting category performance to the Senior Leadership team in formal "Board" settings Stakeholder Engagement: · Developing, maintaining, and managing professional relationships across internal and external stakeholders. · Liaising with colleagues at all levels to ensure compliance in the use of agreements. · Managing a portfolio of projects, working closely with key stakeholders to influence procurement choices and drive savings, efficiencies, and quality. Managing Complexity: · Leading multiple programs and developing collaborative relationship management regimes with key NHS and public sector suppliers, ensuring maximum return on investment on commercial spend across the whole of the public sector. · Implementing change and improvements. Market and Supplier Insights: · Working with other government agencies and public sector bodies to provide support on related tenders across areas such as care homes, schools, blue light, and defense. Public Procurement Regulations: · Supporting the Head of Category with the management of key areas of development within the organisation, such as the review of purchasing procedures/quality manual, ICT systems, benchmarking, and legal updates.
