Senior Cloud Architect (GCP) - Application & Mainframe Modernization at BairesDev

In this role, you'll lead application modernization initiatives, re-architecting legacy and mainframe-class systems into modern cloud platforms as part of an AI-driven mainframe modernization practice. Where legacy COBOL systems are converted into specs and regenerated in Java, Go, or .NET on GCP, your senior architectural judgment ensures these transformations are sound, scalable, and business-aligned. This is your opportunity to lead high-stakes modernization engagements, pairing deep GCP platform expertise with the stakeholder-level communication needed to justify why these systems matter.

What You'll Do:

- Lead application modernization efforts, re-architecting legacy and mainframe-class systems into Java, Go, or .NET on GCP.

- Design end-to-end cloud architecture solutions supporting modernization initiatives.

- Guide requirements gathering and validate solutions with client stakeholders.

- Collaborate with distributed engineering teams within a fully GCP-based environment.

What we are looking for:

- 10+ years of experience in cloud architecture with GCP.

- Deep expertise in application modernization, re-architecting legacy or mainframe-class systems into Java, Go, or .NET on modern cloud platforms.

- Strong background in data architecture on GCP including BigQuery and data pipeline design.

- Consulting or professional services background with project-based, client-facing delivery experience.

- Experience with AI engineering practices such as harness engineering or spec-driven design.

- Strong requirements gathering skills.

- Experience with test-driven design.

- Advanced proficiency in English.

Nice to have:

- Mainframe or COBOL domain familiarity.

- Experience with DORA metrics.

- QA discipline and practices.
