Senior Cloud Software Engineer (Temp)

THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION NOT TO EXCEED 180 DAYS BTS is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to join our Coast Guard Cloud Integration Team! We’re looking for someone who will be establish the policy, strategy and best practices to onramp the Coast Guards cloud infrastructure. Security Clearance: TOP SECRET Location: 90% Remote with some travel to San Diego, CA, Key West, FL and WV Job Duties: Design & Develop : Lead software design and development architecture, creating innovative solutions for high-performance services hosted on massive compute clusters and AWS Cloud Infrastructure. Plan and Stand-up: Stand-up IL4 Landing Zone w/Immortal Jellyfish, Baseline platform, automation deployment, repeatable templates Optimize & Enhance : Lead strategy of testing, performance tuning, and optimization for cloud-native applications, ensuring high availability and efficiency. Collaborate : Work closely with a dynamic, cross-functional team to innovate and launch cloud-based services. Skills: AWS Expertise : Strong experience designing and developing AWS Cloud Architecture. Experience with AWS services related to compute, storage, and event-driven applications Scripting : Strong background in object-oriented or functional programming with Java, JavaScript, C/C++, Python, or Rust Cloud Tools Mastery : Deep proficiency in development and designing AWS SDKs/APIs and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like CloudFormation or Terraform. Agile Mindset : A strong believer in agile development methodologies. Source Control : Familiarity with Git, Maven, Jira, and other source code management tools. Containerization : understanding of containers, build systems, and infrastructure automation with tools such as Docker and Kubernetes Perform high-level requirements analysis, software development, integration, and testing with autonomy. Lead the design and execution of software solutions on large-scale compute clusters and AWS Cloud Infrastructure. Guide junior team members and help refine processes to ensure project success. Evaluate technical needs, create task breakdowns, and oversee the design for technical accuracy and completeness Qualifications Position Requirements: Twelve (12) years of experience in software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution. A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in a related technical field is required. NOTE: A degree in Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, or similar degree will be considered as a technical field. Experience, certifications and demonstrated skills can substituted for a degree. A Master's degree in a Technical Field will be considered equivalent to two (2) years of experience, bringing down the minimal requirement to 10 total years. A PHD degree in a Technical Field will be considered equivalent to four (4) years of experience, bringing down the minimum requirement to 8 total years. Pay Range: $200,000 to $230,000 full Salary range lowest to highest across locations The BTS pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
