Job Description Location: London, GB Condé Nast is a global media company, home to iconic brands including Vogue , GQ , Glamour , CN Traveller , Vanity Fair , Wired , The World of Interiors , House & Garden and Tatler , among many others. We are headquartered in New York and London and operate in 32 markets worldwide, with a footprint of more than 1 billion consumers across print, digital, video and social platforms. Condé Nast thrives on collaboration, and our teams come together in the office four days a week (Monday - Thursday). We value diversity of background, views and cultures. We celebrate people for their personal qualities, skills and contributions, recognising the power our brands have to influence and shape culture. British Vogue is seeking a passionate and authoritative Senior Shopping Writer to join the Vogue Shopping team, helping to expand and optimise Vogue’s fashion shopping vertical across digital platforms. They will craft distinctive and compelling shopping content that inspires our audience while driving meaningful commercial growth across affiliate and partnerships. The ideal candidate will be an experienced fashion journalist with exceptional editorial instincts, product knowledge and a passion for shopping across fashion, beauty and lifestyle. They will have their finger on the pulse of the fashion landscape - from luxury and emerging designers to high-street, accessories and seasonal trends - with a clear point of view on the products, brands and trends that matter to the Vogue reader. They will be skilled at translating this knowledge into distinctive, authoritative shopping service journalism that both attracts an audience and drives purchase. The role will identify new franchises, categories and emerging shopping trends, while helping to edit and optimise fashion shopping content produced by writers and contributors. As an extension of the wider editorial team, they will work closely with Vogue’s fashion, market, editorial, creative and audience teams to ensure shopping coverage reflects and complements the wider editorial conversation. They will use affiliate performance, SEO, traffic, purchasing and conversion data to inform future stories and identify opportunities for growth through strategic commissioning and content planning, while developing new ways to engage audiences with commerce-driven storytelling across Vogue’s digital platforms – from articles and newsletters to social and editor-led UGC. The role will have clear responsibility for contributing to British Vogue’s affiliate revenue targets. Our Senior Shopping Writers are expected to understand the metrics that drive revenue, including Click Through Rate, Conversion Rate, Average Order Value and Commission Rate (CPA), and use these insights to inform editorial decisions, identify new opportunities and optimise commercial performance. Previous experience creating commerce content that has driven meaningful revenue is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be highly organised, collaborative and confident writing, commissioning and editing exceptional shopping content, from product guides and reviews to round-ups and new editorial franchises. They will ensure British Vogue’s archive of shopping content remains up to date, authoritative and optimised for search, affiliate performance and e-commerce best practice, while using regular reporting, insights and performance analysis to help shape future editorial strategy. An enthusiasm for bringing Vogue Shopping’s fashion authority to life across social, newsletters and video is essential. The role will work closely with an extensive cross-functional network, including editorial, fashion, creative, Audience Development, partnerships and data analytics, to deliver against editorial, revenue and profit objectives. This is a rare opportunity to join one of the world’s most influential fashion titles and play an important role in the continued growth and evolution of British Vogue Shopping. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Own the day-to-day editorial direction of fashion shopping, driving distinctive, authoritative coverage across key retail and seasonal moments, including Fashion Week, Cyber Week and major sale periods. Take responsibility for the performance of the fashion shopping vertical against agreed affiliate targets, working alongside the Shopping Editor and Shopping Director to analyse results and identify opportunities to improve performance. Support the management of the long-term fashion shopping editorial calendar across evergreen, SEO, seasonal, trending and emerging content, working closely with Audience Development to optimise search and distribution, maintain high-performing evergreen content and identify opportunities to grow audience and affiliate revenue. Write, pitch and optimise up to 8-10 new and evergreen commerce stories each week, working with the Shopping Director, wider shopping team and creative teams to ensure content and product recommendations are distinctive, authoritative and on-brand. Edit and optimise fashion shopping copy from writers, contributors and freelancers, ensuring editorial quality, accuracy, tone of voice, SEO best practice and commercial effectiveness. Create editor-led UGC to support Vogue Shopping storytelling across articles, social and newsletters. Identify and plan around editorial categories, seasonal tentpoles and emerging commerce opportunities, using purchasing data, site analytics, search trends and competitive insights to inform coverage. Identify new shopping categories, products and trends Vogue should be covering, staying ahead of what fashion consumers are interested in and identifying opportunities before competitors. Produce and present regular reports, analysis and insights on content, audience and commercial performance. Work with the Shopping Editor to track purchasing data and performance across onsite, social and newsletter distribution, using insights to inform future editorial decisions. Work closely with Commerce and Audience Development teams to share data, insights and best practices that improve the reach and performance of Vogue Shopping content. Act as a senior commerce voice within the wider Vogue editorial team, supporting the research and optimisation of shoppable content and identifying opportunities to translate Vogue’s editorial authority into commerce. Bring a clear editorial point of view to product and shopping recommendations that reflects the interests and expectations of the Vogue reader. Partner with the fashion market team to support market stories with authoritative shopping expertise, well-written copy and captions. Represent British Vogue at fashion market appointments, press days, launches and industry events, building strong relationships with brands, retailers, designers and fashion tastemakers. Support and develop more junior members of the shopping team through editorial feedback, sharing fashion expertise and championing best practice across fashion commerce content. Coordinate freelancers where required, including commissioning briefs, editing copy and overseeing delivery. Work with the Shopping Director, Shopping Editor and partnerships team to help deliver fashion content for Vogue Shopping tenancy and commercial partnership programmes, balancing commercial objectives with Vogue’s editorial standards and authority. Essential Skills & Requirements: The ideal candidate will have strong product and shopping editorial expertise, alongside an enthusiasm for helping define and grow Vogue’s content-to-commerce strategy. A minimum of three years’ experience writing fashion and commerce or affiliate content for a digital publication, with a strong understanding of commerce best practice. Confident editing and improving copy while maintaining a consistent and distinctive Vogue voice. Strong knowledge of SEO principles and experience using search and audience insights to shape editorial coverage and attract a buying audience. Exceptional editorial judgement and the ability to identify the products, trends and shopping stories that matter to the Vogue reader. Experience analysing performance across product categories, retailers and content types and using those insights to optimise revenue generation. Experience managing product sourcing logistics within an editorial or commerce environment. Experience developing editorial calendars, franchises and content strategies rather than solely executing individual stories. Highly organised and methodical, with polished communication skills, a collaborative mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities and oversee the work of contributors. A proactive self-starter with an enthusiasm for directly contributing to the growth of Condé Nast’s commerce business. Ability to write clean, authentic and engaging copy at speed without resorting to marketing jargon.
