This is a hands-on role focused on executing governance activities, supporting metadata cataloging, and applying practical data quality controls. Just as important, this person will act as a communicator and facilitator—helping form working groups, align business and technical teams, and coach client staff on how to take ownership as data stewards. Core Responsibilities Support the design of tailored data governance programs, with recommendations on processes, team structure, decision rights and boundaries. Design policies and controls for effective data governance execution. Bring a modern perspective on the design and rollout of data governance. Communicate governance concepts in clear business language; prepare presentations, training materials, and adoption guides. Facilitate data governance working groups to drive alignment between business and technology stakeholders. Execute metadata management activities such as cataloging, lineage capture, and stewardship workflows. Partner with business teams to draft and maintain business rules, definitions, and data quality controls. Apply data quality processes such as profiling, monitoring, and issue management, ensuring rules are practical and adopted. Support the installation, configuration, rollout and adoption of governance/metadata tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Atlan, Purview). Coach client staff on data stewardship practices—showing them how to govern their data effectively and sustainably. Provide input on access controls, privacy, and compliance with regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business owners to embed governance into daily workflows, platform pipelines, modeling practices, and observability. Metadata Tools & Platform Enablement Install and configure metadata/catalog tools in client environments. Build and curate catalogs, including ingestion of technical metadata, business glossaries, and lineage. Define user personas and design role-appropriate experiences (data stewards, data owners, analysts, engineers).
