Position : Senior Consultant – Technology Impact Research & Organisational Benchmarking Location : Berlin, Bonn, Munich, Meckenheim Field : Defence Type : Full-time/80% Remote Project Environment The role is embedded within a strategic research function that provides high-quality IT, technology, market, company and organisational research. The team systematically identifies, assesses and structures information from internal and external sources and transforms it into executive briefings, research reports and decision-making materials for management, specialist departments and customer projects. It also supports corporate search solutions and AI-enabled knowledge and information systems by providing reliable and well-structured information. The Senior Consultant will independently conduct demanding research across a broad range of IT, technology, market, company and organisational topics. The specialist focus of the position is the systematic assessment of how new technologies affect: Organisations Leadership structures Roles and responsibilities Business and operational processes Skills and competencies Workforce structures Operating models Value-creation models Artificial intelligence is currently a major area of focus. However, the role remains technology-neutral and may also examine other emerging technologies and their organisational, operational, workforce-related and economic implications. This is primarily a research and assessment position. It does not have primary responsibility for managing operational transformation programmes or for delivering traditional organisational-development services. Responsibilities Independently conduct complex IT, technology, market, company and organisational research. Identify, evaluate and structure information from multiple internal and external sources. Assess the quality, reliability, relevance and limitations of research sources. Analyse incomplete, inconsistent or contradictory information and derive evidence-based findings. Produce structured research reports, executive briefings, comparative studies and decision documents. Translate complex findings into clear and audience-appropriate management materials. Conduct technology-impact research concerning the effects of emerging technologies on organisations and operating models. Conduct AI-impact research covering AI use cases, AI-enabled working methods and organisational implications. Analyse the impact of AI and other technologies on: Software development Organisational structures Leadership Roles Skills Workforce requirements Processes Productivity Operating models Value creation Conduct transformation research and organisational benchmarking. Compare organisations, particularly IT organisations and technology-service providers, in relation to: Organisational models Roles and skills Leadership approaches Processes Maturity levels Operating models Value-creation structures Develop and apply structured benchmarking, assessment and maturity models. Develop reusable research and analytical assets, including: Technology-impact frameworks AI-impact models Benchmarking models Maturity-assessment models Role and skill frameworks Operating-model benchmarks Leadership-analysis frameworks Identify relevant best practices and compare alternative organisational or technological approaches. Evaluate the strategic and operational implications of technology developments. Derive transparent findings and management recommendations from research results. Design, plan and lead one or more research or consulting projects. Define research questions, methodologies, work packages, schedules and deliverables. Coordinate research activities with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Present complex research, analysis and assessment results to management, specialist departments and project teams. Prepare specialist contributions for management committees and decision-making bodies. Support internal and external projects with research, benchmarking and analytical services. Continuously improve research, benchmarking and assessment methods. Maintain transparency regarding assumptions, uncertainties, source quality and methodological limitations. Required Qualifications Master's degree, diploma or doctorate in a relevant discipline, particularly: Business or Economics Business Informatics Computer Science Social Sciences Organisational Sciences Technology Management Innovation Management Natural Sciences A comparable field A doctorate in a relevant discipline is advantageous but not mandatory. German language skills at CEFR C1 level. English language skills at CEFR B2 level. Required Research and Methodological Expertise The candidate must demonstrate strong knowledge of: Systematic research methods Source identification and evaluation Qualitative and quantitative analysis Structuring complex information Management-oriented communication Comparative research Organisational benchmarking Best-practice analysis Maturity assessments Technology assessments Impact analysis Research-report preparation Executive briefing Decision-document development The candidate should also have practical experience developing or applying structured: Comparison frameworks Evaluation models Benchmarking methods Best-practice frameworks Maturity models Role and skill frameworks Required Technology and Transformation Knowledge The candidate must have a strong understanding of how new technologies affect at least three of the following areas: Organisational structures Leadership Roles Processes Skills Workforce Operating models Value creation Strong knowledge of current artificial-intelligence technologies and use cases is required, including their potential impact on organisations, processes, roles, skills and business value. Relevant subject areas may include: Generative AI AI-supported working methods AI use cases AI-enabled software development Automation Knowledge systems Digital transformation Emerging technologies Technology-driven organisational change Required Professional Experience The candidate should have: At least five years of professional experience in research, analysis, IT, technology or technology-related consulting. At least four years of experience independently conducting demanding research and analytical assignments. At least three years of experience producing high-quality management deliverables, such as: Research reports Executive briefings Comparative studies Management presentations Decision documents At least three years of experience analysing the organisational impact of technologies. At least three years of experience conducting benchmarking, comparative, best-practice, maturity or assessment analyses. At least two years of experience working with artificial intelligence in a research, analytical or project context. At least two years of experience developing reusable research, benchmarking, maturity, role, skill or assessment models. At least three years of experience presenting and explaining complex research findings to management, specialist departments or comparable stakeholders. The required experience must represent continuous and substantive involvement in the relevant subject areas rather than occasional or isolated activities. High degree of accuracy, intellectual curiosity and methodological discipline. Working Conditions Approximately 80% of the work may be performed remotely. Business travel of up to 20% of working time may be required. Travel may be undertaken by private car, rental vehicle, train or other public transport in accordance with the applicable travel policy. Candidate profiles must include nationality information. Applicable security-related nationality and country restrictions must be observed. Eligibility for assignment in a security-sensitive environment must be confirmed before deployment.
