Job Description Senior Data Architect We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to support the Justice Information Management System (JIMS) 3.0, a comprehensive data integration and modernization initiative. This role will focus on designing and implementing an enterprise data warehouse that consolidates multiple disjointed reporting data marts into a unified, efficient architecture. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing existing data structures, performing detailed data profiling, creating design and mapping specifications, and developing Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes. The successful candidate will contribute to improving data governance, availability, and reporting capabilities while ensuring the transition from legacy systems to a modern, integrated data platform. The Senior Data Architect will lead the definition and management of data architecture principles, strategies, and standards. Key responsibilities include identifying and documenting enterprise data requirements, developing transition plans to guide data toward its ideal future state, establishing design reviews and architectural assessments, and providing guidance to initiatives aligning with the data architecture. The role requires expertise in data modeling, quality assurance testing of dimensions and facts, development of Power BI reports, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The candidate will also address minor fixes in delivered data marts, update data models for new attributes, and provide feedback and lessons learned at project closeout. Qualifications - 2 years of experience working in or with public-sector environments with awareness of public-sector constraints and privacy legislation such as FOIP - 5 years of proven experience providing architecture risk assessments AND providing architecture analysis/assessment AND capturing and implementing business rules AND determining data mart content and data structures - Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (equivalent experience may be considered; formal education strongly preferred) Nice to Have - 5 years of experience developing using software such as SAP/Sybase's PowerDesigner, ERWin, Oracle Designer, SQL Developer Data Modeler, or Microsoft Visio - 3 years of experience using JOIN (Justice Online Information Network) and JIMS (Justice Information Management System) data and data structures, and knowledge of business rules based on Judicial processes - 2 years of experience working in or with Court environments, with awareness of the importance of judicial independence - 1 year of experience working with information management and cybersecurity policies, directives, and guidelines within limited timelines - 5 years of strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making - Completed training in database administration - Completed training in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) - Completed training specific to SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) - Data Warehousing certifications such as TDWI's Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP), CFI's Business Intelligence and Data Analyst (BIDA), or completion of Kimball Group Data Warehouse training - Willingness to attend onsite meetings in Edmonton when required This is a remote position.
