About the Project

The end client is an established SaaS company specializing in marketing automation and customer engagement solutions. Its platform is used by thousands of businesses worldwide to manage customer communications, marketing campaigns, and data-driven engagement activities.

The company is currently expanding its reporting and analytics capabilities to support rapidly increasing data volumes generated across several products and data sources.

As part of this initiative, the client is modernizing its reporting platform and migrating toward a more scalable analytics architecture. The existing ecosystem includes technologies such as Apache Druid, MySQL, and Kafka and requires further development to improve reporting consistency, performance, and scalability.

In this role, you will review the current reporting environment, define the future architecture, and work directly with the client’s engineering teams on its implementation.

Your Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate the existing reporting architecture across multiple data stores.
  • Design a scalable and high-performance reporting platform capable of processing very large datasets.
  • Define data models suited for analytical and reporting workloads.
  • Design event-enrichment solutions using metadata collected from different sources.
  • Develop efficient approaches for unique-count calculations and large-scale analytical aggregations.
  • Provide architectural direction for real-time and near-real-time analytics.
  • Assess technologies, architectural patterns, and platform trade-offs.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to implement the proposed solutions.
  • Support the reporting migration and maintain data consistency throughout the transition.
  • Establish best practices for data quality, observability, scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers.

Required Experience

  • At least 7 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or a closely related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Apache Druid.
  • Solid expertise in Kafka and event-driven architectures.
  • Advanced knowledge of analytical data modeling for large-scale systems.
  • Experience designing real-time or near-real-time reporting platforms.
  • Strong SQL and MySQL skills.
  • Experience processing and analyzing billions of events.
  • Deep understanding of distributed data systems and performance optimization.
  • Ability to independently assess an existing architecture and recommend practical improvements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Experience with Apache Flink.
  • Experience building streaming data pipelines and stream-processing solutions.
  • Knowledge of data-enrichment and dimensional-modeling techniques.
  • Experience implementing scalable unique-count mechanisms, such as HyperLogLog or comparable approaches.
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms and modern analytics architectures.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with ClickHouse.
  • Familiarity with modern lakehouse architectures, data lakes, or open table formats such as Apache Iceberg.
  • Previous experience within SaaS, marketing technology, or customer engagement platforms.
  • Experience contributing to large-scale reporting migration projects.
