Senior Data Engineer - Data Warehouse & BI Platform

Location: Fully remote

Salary: $55-70K plus excellent benefits

Please note: One week of onboarding and two team-building trips to the Iowa HQ each year.

The Opportunity

Our client is a venture-backed Agri-Tech business using technology to improve livestock care and support better decision-making for farmers.

They are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help scale their data warehouse and BI platform, building reliable, well-modelled datasets for reporting, analytics, and downstream tools.

Key Requirements

• 5+ years in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or similar
• Experience of owning a BigQuery + dbt (or equivalent) pipeline end-to-end, ideally at a startup or small-team scale where they were the most senior data person on the work
• Experience of being the 'go-to' Data Engineer and teaching the rest of the team
• Strong SQL and dimensional modelling experience
• BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouse experience
• DBT or similar transformation framework
• Python for pipelines, orchestration, or data tooling
• Experience supporting BI-ready datasets and analytics workflows
• Comfortable in a fast-moving, hands-on environment

Desirable

• Prefect, Airflow, or similar orchestration tools
• Looker / LookML
• Power BI
• Data quality, testing, or observability tools
• Startup experience

The Role

You will design and maintain scalable warehouse models, improve SQL transformation layers, support Python-based data infrastructure, enhance data quality, and work with technical and business stakeholders to deliver robust analytics-ready data.
