We are partnering with a leading pharmaceutical organization committed to leveraging data and technology to accelerate innovation, improve decision-making, and support business growth. As part of a major data transformation journey, we are looking for a Senior Data Engineer & Technical Lead who will play a key role in designing and scaling modern data platforms.

The Role
As Senior Data Engineer & Technical Lead, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise-grade data solutions on Microsoft Azure and Databricks. You will provide technical leadership to the data engineering team, define best practices, and collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data scientists, and IT teams to deliver scalable and reliable data products.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of modern data architectures and data pipelines.
• Develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT processes using Azure and Databricks.
• Drive technical decisions and establish engineering best practices across the data platform.
• Mentor and support data engineers, fostering technical excellence within the team.
• Ensure data quality, governance, security, and performance standards are met.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Contribute to the evolution of the company's cloud data strategy and roadmap.
• Troubleshoot complex data issues and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with proven experience in technical leadership roles.
• Strong expertise in Azure Data Platform services and Databricks.
• Solid experience designing and building data lakes, data warehouses, and large-scale data pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of Python, SQL, and modern data engineering practices.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures and DevOps methodologies.
• Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluency in Italian and English is required.

Location: Lugano, Switzerland
Work Model: Hybrid (4 days on-site, 1 day remote per week)
Salary: CHF 80,000 – 100,000 gross annual salary
