Senior Data Scientist - Contract Role - Fully Remote

Stelfox is hiring on behalf of client for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join their team on an initial 6-month contract fully remote.

This role offers the opportunity to lead end-to-end data science projects, applying advanced analytics, machine learning, and GenAI/LLM techniques to solve complex business challenges and deliver production-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead data science projects from problem definition through deployment and handover
• Analyse product and operational performance to identify opportunities and recommend improvements
• Design, build, validate, and optimise forecasting, capacity planning, and predictive models
• Define and track success metrics to measure model effectiveness and business impact
• Collaborate with Engineering teams on deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of models
• Break complex initiatives into achievable milestones and communicate progress, risks, and dependencies
• Produce high-quality, well-documented, and repeatable analytical solutions
• Identify and resolve technical debt, data quality issues, and performance bottlenecks
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure solutions are aligned with business needs

Required Skills & Experience

• Expert-level Python and SQL skills
• Strong experience with data science, machine learning, statistical modelling, and predictive analytics
• Deep understanding of model selection, validation, and performance evaluation
• Experience designing and implementing solutions for complex, ambiguous business challenges
• Knowledge of LLMs, Generative AI workflows, prompt engineering, and model evaluation techniques
• Familiarity with experimentation methodologies and data-driven decision making
• Experience with software engineering best practices, including version control, testing, and documentation
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to translate business questions into actionable analytical projects
• Proven experience managing project dependencies across multiple teams
• Strong documentation and knowledge-sharing mindset
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced remote environment
