Outsourcing Advantage is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to lead cost estimation for electrical, and systems on high-value construction projects, such as hospitals, high end residential, complex commercial, infrastructure, transportation and data centers, in Florida. The ideal candidate will bring subject matter expertise in such areas to develop accurate, competitive bids for multi-hundred million-dollar projects, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with client expectations. This role requires collaboration with project lead estimator/chief estimator teams, subcontractors, and vendors to deliver precise estimates in Florida’s dynamic construction market. The ideal candidate shall also be able to prepare pre-construction type budgets using top-down estimating model and perform change order analysis and preparation. Key responsibilities include: Lead electrical cost estimation for high-value projects ($50M+), including hospitals, high end luxury hi rise projects, and other complex developments, from conceptual design through construction documents. Perform detailed takeoffs and cost analyses for electrical, security, fire alarm, data & telecom, and other special system related to the electrical trade ensuring accuracy and competitiveness. Develop value engineering solutions and optimize Electrical budgets. Prepare comprehensive bid packages, including scope sheets, qualifications, and exclusions, for subcontractors and vendors. Utilize advanced estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Trimble, Bluebeam) to streamline takeoffs, cost modeling, and bid preparation. Utilize Gordian (RS Means) estimating software to prepare budgets and Change Orders evaluation Review project plans, specifications, and designs to identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and constructability issues. Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. Provide accurate cost data and reports to project teams and senior leadership, supporting preconstruction planning and client presentations. Ensure compliance with South Florida & International building codes, ASHRAE standards, and industry regulations for MEP systems. Mentor junior estimators, fostering a culture of precision, collaboration, and excellence within the estimating team. • Train potential junior estimators in the art of estimating Analyze bid documents, contractors, and vendor proposals to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for construction projects. Perform conceptual estimating and prepare budget and early-stage estimates Research and evaluate subcontractors based on price, quality, selection, service, support, etc. Solicit subcontractor/material supplier bid proposals . Perform quantity and labor take-off from on-screen construction documents. Prepare scope sheets based upon project specific requirements Performs Preconstruction Services. Develops and/or understands the full parameters of the project scope Provides estimating services which include conceptual, schematic, design development & construction level estimates Fosters positive relationships with internal and external customers, sub-contractors, and design professionals. Assist in value engineering Create assemblies as necessary to keep estimating database up to date Required Qualifications: Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical estimating, with at least 5 years on high-value projects (e.g., hospitals, data centers, high end hotels and residential, airports, seaports, water utility projects, power distribution) Experience estimating Electrical systems for at least 3 projects valued at $25 million or more,. Proven expertise in electrical (power distribution, lighting, security, telecom, av systems, fire alarm, lighting controls), and plumbing systems for complex facilities Proficiency in Electrical estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Trimble, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledgeable in Excel, Word, and general business software use Strong knowledge of South Florida and International building codes, NFPA, ASHRAE, and other relevant MEP standards Exceptional analytical and communication skills, with a focus on accuracy and client satisfaction. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred. 10 years’ experience as Master Electrician will be accepted as equivalent Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple bids and deadlines. Knowledge of estimating processes in electrical trade as well as general construction estimating. with understanding of principal trades and the scheduling/sequencing of work, as well as scope interrelations of the works Professional English proficiency (C1 level) , bilingual or some Spanish language knowledge is a plus Problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Attention to detail, strong organization skills and the ability to multi-task projects simultaneously High standard of integrity and professionalism. Time and budget management Based in Colombia with a physical address in Medellín or within approximately 45 minutes’ drive of Laureles Is willing to attend meetings or work on any given day on/from cowork spaces or an office, in Medellin. Availability for meetings and calls between 9AM–6PM EST Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical engineering, or construction management .
