Is this job info correct?

About the role

This is a key role within our Dublin Core Team, acting as a technical pillar for our electrical design delivery. You will report and work directly with the founding Electrical Director, offering unrivalled mentorship and genuine influence over project direction. You will be a hands-on engineer, taking ownership of the design and delivery of electrical systems — LV/MV power distribution, UPS, standby generation, and switchgear — across a wide range of data centre projects, from fast-paced data hall fit-outs and live-environment retrofits to large-scale new builds for colocation and hyperscale clients.

This role suits a technically-driven engineer who thrives on solving complex problems and wants to take a significant step in their career. You will be a foundational member of the team, helping to mentor our Intermediate and Graduate engineers and shaping the technical standards of a new, ambitious consultancy.

Location

Dublin, Ireland (Hybrid)

Reports to: Associate Electrical Engineer / Electrical Director.

Key Responsibilities

1) Design & Delivery

  • Lead the design and delivery of electrical building services, including LV/MV power distribution, UPS systems, standby generation, busbar systems, and life safety systems, across new-build, fit-out, and retrofit data centre projects.

2) Technical Production

  • Prepare and review technical specifications, calculations, single-line diagrams, schematics, and tender documentation.
  • Undertake or oversee power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, selectivity, and coordination analysis.

3) Quality Assurance

  • Act as a key reviewer, checking calculations, drawings, and reports produced by junior engineers and the remote Flex Team to ensure technical excellence.

4) Project & Commercial Management

  • Manage project scope, budget, programme, and contracts — identifying and mitigating scope creep and delivery risks; report regularly to the Associate/Director on project performance.

5) Live Environment & Retrofit Delivery

  • Develop retrofit-specific design strategies for live, operational data centre environments, including tie-ins to live systems, outage and staging strategies, and resilience design, adhering to WAP/PTW protocols.

6) Client & Contractor Liaison

  • Work directly with clients (hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise operators), consultants, and contractors, providing technical advice and representing ZeroOne in project and site meetings.

7) Mentorship

  • Mentor and support the development of Intermediate and Graduate engineers, encouraging knowledge sharing and professional growth.

About You

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in electrical building services engineering, ideally within a multidisciplinary consultancy environment, with at least 3 years focused on data centre or mission-critical projects.
  • Proven track record leading multi-million-euro electrical design packages from concept through to delivery.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or actively working towards Chartership) with Engineers Ireland, CIBSE, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems design, including LV/MV power distribution, UPS systems, standby generation, busbar systems, lighting, fire detection, earthing and lightning protection, and ELV systems.
  • Experience undertaking MV power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, selectivity, and coordination analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Bluebeam; proficiency with ETAP, Dialux, or Amtech for calculations.
  • Excellent understanding of IEC, CIBSE, BS, IS, and EN standards.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the European Union and be able to provide evidence of their work authorization if requested.

Preferred

  • Demonstrable experience working in live, operational data centre environments, including brownfield upgrades or phased refurbishments.
  • Familiarity with BMS/EPMS integration and smart building systems.
  • Experience working on projects across the EMEA region.

Certifications

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with Engineers Ireland, CIBSE, or equivalent — held, or actively working towards.

Package & Benefits

  • Competitive salary, reflective of experience and market benchmarks
  • Pension contribution
  • Hybrid working model
  • Direct mentorship from founding Directors
  • Structured support toward relevant professional certification (e.g., Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland / CIBSE)
  • Travel and expenses covered for client-site visits across Europe
