We are seeking an experienced Senior Employment Compliance Specialist to bring strategic thinking, expert guidance, and sound judgment to our most complex employment challenges. In this role, you'll independently manage high-risk employment matters, provide actionable recommendations to leaders and HR partners, and serve as a trusted resource on workplace investigations, ADA compliance, wage and hour concerns, workforce planning initiatives, and more. Beyond your individual impact, you'll mentor and support compliance specialists, helping elevate team capabilities while driving consistent, high-quality outcomes across the organization. Here's what you'll do: Serve as a senior-level consultant and trusted advisor to HR Business Partners, business leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders on complex employee relations, workplace behavior, and employment compliance matters. Own risk assessment and recommendation development for complex and high-risk matters; present clear, defensible guidance to HR Business Partners and business leadership. Final decisions and outcomes remain the responsibility of the business. Analyze complex fact patterns and interpret federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and internal policies to support consistent, compliant, and risk-informed decision-making. Lead, conduct, and oversee complex and high-risk workplace investigations, including defining scope, approach, interview strategy, fact-finding, findings, and recommended actions. Review and approve investigation plans, work products, and reports developed by Specialist I and Specialist II team members, providing guidance on investigative strategy, risk areas, methodology, documentation standards, and defensible recommendations. Lead and provide strategic oversight for workforce reduction analyses, wage and hour reviews, ADA-related matters, and other high-risk compliance initiatives, ensuring appropriate risk identification, analysis, and mitigation. Advise leadership on wage and hour compliance under the FLSA and relevant state laws, including classification reviews, overtime practices, recordkeeping requirements, and scheduling considerations. Serve as a subject-matter expert on ADA compliance, guiding interactive process reviews, reasonable accommodation evaluations, and fitness-for-duty considerations. Partner with in-house counsel by providing first-level review and assessment of complex employment matters, detailed factual summaries, and support for position statement responses and other legal documentation. Lead and facilitate discussions with HR Business Partners and business leadership on complex or high-risk matters, providing clear, tailored, risk-based recommendations informed by business operations and organizational structure. Identify trends and systemic issues, advising leadership on opportunities for policy improvements, process enhancements, training needs, and proactive risk mitigation. Develop, deliver, and continuously improve training programs, compliance resources, and guidance materials on employment compliance topics, including investigations, workforce reductions, wage and hour laws, ADA requirements, and best practices. Review and provide guidance on training materials and compliance resources developed by Specialist I and Specialist II team members, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with legal requirements and organizational standards. Lead or contribute to cross-functional initiatives, applying advanced project management, analytical, and strategic planning skills to design, organize, and execute new or enhanced programs and processes. Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and guidance to Specialist I and Specialist II team members, supporting development in investigation methodology, risk assessment, documentation standards, employment law application, and compliance best practices. Serve as a point of escalation for complex or high-risk matters, providing direction and support to ensure appropriate handling, consistency, and alignment across the team. The ideal candidate: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in employee relations, investigations, employment compliance, wage & hour compliance, or ADA-related matters; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Experience handling complex, high-risk matters and providing strategic consultation to senior leaders strongly preferred SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred The position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m., with overtime as needed.
