Senior Engineer (Electrical Designer)

Job Description Overview The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the design and delivery of electrical engineering solutions for projects within the Middle East (ME) business. The role involves electrical system design, multidisciplinary coordination, technical reviews, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards, quality requirements, and project schedules. The individual will also support project teams through technical guidance, mentoring, and the successful execution of engineering projects. Your role Uses data, tools, and technology to add value. Receives technical training on the job and performs tasks with minimal supervision. Questions and challenges conventional work methodologies. Able to author competent technical reports of acceptable technical and presentation quality. Demonstrates an understanding of international design codes and is emerging as, or accepted as, a subject matter expert in one or more areas of their discipline. Develops broad technical competence and can review the work of project team members. Demonstrates an emerging ability to review work on simpler single-discipline projects (Green Technical Risk Category). Demonstrates a service-oriented mindset. Researches the market and contributes to market intelligence initiatives. Leads by example and supports junior team members on CDM, Safe by Design principles, and AtkinsRéalis SMS procedures. Participates in updating the PAT Tool for projects. Able to independently deliver work and integrate effectively within larger project teams. Leads the application of digital technologies on projects and acts as an Information Manager on medium projects or Design Manager on smaller projects. Capable of independently producing effort estimates for tasks within their area of expertise or for single-discipline projects. Applies professional knowledge and experienced judgment to single-discipline projects within their domain. Adapts plans and actions appropriately in response to changing circumstances. Familiar with the commercial aspects of project management. Able to present and represent their work, as well as team outputs, to clients through meetings and presentations. Shares lessons learned and best practices and proactively leads knowledge-sharing sessions within the practice. Self-disciplined and capable of managing their own work allocation and that of junior team members. Able to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks effectively to meet project deadlines and budget requirements. Works proactively and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams while contributing to process improvements. Possesses strong communication and listening skills and can draft responses to straightforward queries. Demonstrates resilience, initiative, and a positive attitude when facing challenges. Regularly supervises junior staff. Creates an environment where others can make informed decisions by clarifying roles, responsibilities, and providing appropriate support. Listens attentively and openly to differing opinions and balances perspectives using impartial judgment and common sense. Can take on responsibilities such as an L&D Coordinator, Early Career Mentor, or Digital Champion within their discipline. Able to lead and deliver tasks or less complex, generally single-discipline, projects to agreed time, cost, and quality parameters. Builds effective relationships with a range of LPO colleagues. Demonstrates growing awareness of project commercial management and AtkinsRéalis financial systems. Produces professional reports with minimal review and rework required. Reliably manages teams and supervises junior staff. Trains and develops junior staff on relevant tools and technical competencies. Implements Sustainability and Net Zero initiatives across projects where applicable. Provides clear and precise instructions to less experienced team members. Identifies and understands changes to contractual arrangements when they occur. Holds relevant professional qualifications, or demonstrates significant progress towards them, such as CEng, RIBA, CEnv, P.Eng, P.E., or APM.
