Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a
Senior Full Stack Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Costa Rica/ Mexico. Our client is a leading global toy manufacturer with an award-winning, robust portfolio of wholly owned and licensed brands.
Founded in 1997, the company celebrates imaginative play with a progressive focus on identifying emerging trends and turning them into high-quality products for consumers of all ages. It engages consumers through innovative play experiences with popular brands. In addition to toys, offerings include Metaverse gaming, costumes, and pet products. The client has an internal IT department of approximately 25–28 people.
The team covers a broad range of functions, including ERP, Platform Engineering, Software Development, Database Administration, EDI, Reporting & Business Intelligence, DevOps/Cloud Engineering, and Web Development.
The technology landscape includes Sage X3 ERP, Shopify (B2B and D2C), Workato integrations, AWS, SQL Server, Jira, Zendesk, and several internally developed applications. The business operates across the United States, Australia, and the UK/European markets.
Remote work is possible, but it ideally requires office attendance at least 3-4 times/week.
Requirements
- 3+ years of modern software development practice (cloud-native, CI/CD, testing, coding patterns, ai-assisted). "Modern software practice" is what the team elaborates on: Cloud-Native (not a server under someone's desk, not a legacy Java monolith, AWS/Azure/GCP - anything would cross out this requirement), CI/CD/testing, Coding Patterns (this is CS and experience), and AI-Assisted.
- Strong knowledge of Python and JavaScript.
- Be comfortable writing front-end (React) for internal tools.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with logging and monitoring fundamentals. The delivery team should look for keywords like "canonical logging," "PI masking," and "code instrumentation."
- Product mindset, no "not my job" attitude. The team doesn’t need developers who "write code" in a dark corner and don't care about the product and the users overall.
- Understanding of Kanban Agile practices.
- Understanding of modern data engineering patterns (ETL, OLAP/OLTP, maturity levels).
- Clear and respectful communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with manufacturing and E-commerce domains.
- Familiarity with DDD and TDD.
- Advanced knowledge of AWS (serverless, ALB/API Gateway, IAM for service-to-service communication, DynamoDB, RDS, AWS SDK).
- Strong experience with GitHub (Workflows/Actions, Gitflow, Repo Rules, Dependabot and CodeQL fine-tuning, Security Gates).
- Advanced Data Engineering (Databricks, Kinesis Firehose, Pub/Sub, ETL).
- Knowledge of Agentic AI (Prompt and Harness Engineering, Security Best Practices, Evals, Observability).
- Skilled at Managing Up.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications and internal tools using Python, JavaScript, and React.
- Build high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software following modern engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and deliver product-focused solutions.
- Develop and integrate APIs, data pipelines, and services using SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and continuous improvement of development processes.
- Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to logging and observability.
- Work within a Kanban environment and take ownership of features throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and code quality.
