We work closely with clients to understand their business problems and build practical systems that improve how they operate.

We are now looking for an experienced Senior Full-Stack Engineer based in Malaysia to support client projects and internal product development.

About the Role

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can take ownership of a project from requirements through to deployment.

You will work across frontend, backend, databases, integrations and cloud infrastructure. Depending on the project, you may be building a client portal, improving an existing application, integrating a CRM, developing an internal operational tool or delivering an MVP from the ground up.

You will not always receive a perfectly detailed technical specification. You should be comfortable understanding a business problem, asking the right questions, proposing an appropriate solution and delivering it reliably.

This is a contract position rather than a permanent full-time employment role. The initial arrangement may be part-time or project-based, with the opportunity for ongoing work if there is a strong fit.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain production-quality web applications.
• Develop responsive and polished frontend interfaces.
• Build backend services, APIs, authentication and business logic.
• Design and manage relational databases and application data models.
• Integrate third-party platforms, CRMs, payment systems and external APIs.
• Build internal dashboards, portals, workflow tools and automation systems.
• Deploy, monitor and maintain applications in cloud environments.
• Review existing codebases and improve their reliability, performance and maintainability.
• Translate business and client requirements into clear technical solutions.
• Estimate work accurately and communicate progress, risks and blockers.
• Test, debug and document the systems you build.
• Work closely with ZeroFold’s project leads, designers and other developers.
• Take responsibility for the quality and completion of assigned projects.
• What We’re Looking For
• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent evidence of senior-level ability.
• Strong experience building and shipping full-stack applications.
• Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Production experience with a frontend framework such as React, Next.js, Vue or a similar technology.
• Strong backend development experience using Node.js, Python, PHP, Laravel or a comparable framework.
• Practical experience designing and working with REST APIs.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience with authentication, permissions, file handling and common application security practices.
• Experience deploying and maintaining applications using platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Vercel, Cloudflare or DigitalOcean.
• Comfortable working with Git, pull requests, code reviews and modern development workflows.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work independently and make sensible technical decisions.
• Clear written and spoken English.
• Reliable communication in a remote working environment.

• Docker, CI/CD and cloud infrastructure
• Multi-tenant SaaS applications
• Client-facing technical delivery
• Startup, agency or freelance experience

You do not need to know every technology listed. We care more about strong engineering fundamentals, judgement and the ability to learn quickly.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced and resourceful engineer who can independently move a project forward.

You should be able to:

• Understand an incomplete or ambiguous requirement.
• Identify the important technical and business questions.
• Recommend a sensible implementation approach.
• Build the system cleanly and efficiently.
• Communicate problems before they become delays.
• Deliver work that another engineer can understand and maintain.

We are especially interested in candidates who can demonstrate systems they have personally designed, built and shipped.

A strong portfolio, GitHub profile, technical case study, startup project or detailed explanation of previous work will carry more weight than credentials alone.
