Betterteam is a modern Applicant Tracking System (ATS) that revolutionizes traditional recruitment into a streamlined, intuitive experience, saving time and effort for businesses worldwide. We are a talented team passionate about building innovative solutions to transform how companies recruit and hire top talent. Our fully distributed team values craftsmanship, autonomy, and a healthy work-life balance.
We make heavy use of agentic engineering. AI coding agents are part of our daily workflow, helping us build features, review code, test, deploy, and improve our internal tooling, and we are gradually bringing AI into the product as well. We place a strong emphasis on software engineering fundamentals, as using AI well takes engineers who understand code deeply and are committed to the quality of everything they ship. Our engineering team is lean, and each engineer has a high level of ownership and impact.
What will you work on?
- Own product features end to end, from idea and design through backend (Go) and frontend (React) implementation, deployment, and measuring real-world impact.
- Help bring AI into the product where it improves the experience for our users, such as job post creation assistance and smarter candidate filtering and search.
- Use AI coding agents as part of your daily development workflow, and help build the skills, prompts, and automations that make them effective across development, code review, testing, and operations.
- Design, build, and maintain robust backend services and RESTful APIs using Go and PostgreSQL.
- Create responsive, modular, and intuitive web interfaces using React, TypeScript, and TailwindCSS.
- Use product analytics and monitoring tools such as PostHog and Datadog to inform product decisions and verify that shipped features are working as intended.
- Collaborate directly with product, design, and customer support to identify and prioritize the highest-impact work.

- Monitoring & Analytics: Datadog, PostHog
About You
You are a product-minded engineer with solid experience across the full stack, from frontend (React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS) to backend (Go, RESTful APIs, PostgreSQL). You care about why a feature is being built and not just how, and you have a strong UX sense and the ability to make product decisions based on both intuition and data.
You have strong software engineering fundamentals. You read and reason about code fluently, have a solid understanding of data structures, system design, databases, and how the web and the Internet work, and can spot subtle problems in code whether it was written by a person or an AI. You are fully capable of building features yourself without AI assistance.
You have experience working with agentic coding tools, reviewing their output with a critical eye, and deciding when to delegate work to an agent and when to write the code yourself. Experience building the workflows, skills, and automations that make AI agents effective for a team is a plus, as is exposure to building LLM-powered features involving prompting, tool use, and evals.
You write clear, maintainable, and well-documented code, are committed to robust testing, and have solid experience with Git and GitHub workflows. Your excellent communication and teamwork skills enable you to collaborate effectively across a remote, cross-functional team.
