As Senior Global Hazard Communication Manager , you will classify Syngenta materials according to UN Globally Harmonized System (UN GHS) and applicable dangerous goods/transport regulations . You will provide regulatory and hazard classification expertise , leadership, and advocacy to business partners, while playing a key role in anticipating regulatory developments, and strengthening Syngenta’s Global hazard communication capability across the product lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: Deliver hazard and dangerous goods/transport classifications for globally managed materials. Author and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for a specific portfolio, by leveraging deep expertise in: hazard and dangerous goods (DG)/transport classification; regulatory requirements; relevant systems, data and technology. Provide regulatory foresight: monitor, evaluate and translate evolving regulations into impact, recommendations, and implementation plans. Shape approaches to hazard classification, labelling, and safety communication, ensuring consistent interpretation and effective implementation across markets and throughout the product lifecycle. Develop and maintain training materials, onboard and coach new team members. Support and advise the Global network of local SDS authors. Drive continuous improvement and digitalization of hazard communication processes, systems and data. Lead data quality and governance activities in SAP-EHS, establish and maintain effective governance and data standards. Lead projects independently, managing scope, stakeholders and delivery. Mentor and develop colleagues, strengthening the technical capability and knowledge sharing across Regulatory. Minimum 6 years working in Hazard Communication (senior level of expertise is expected). Minimum education: degree in science (BSc or preferably post-graduate qualification (MSc, PhD) in chemistry, biology, biochemistry) or equivalent professional experience in a product safety or regulatory environment. Strong working knowledge of SAP-EHS is essential. Comprehensive in-depth knowledge of classification and labelling regulations for hazardous chemicals (UN GHS, EU CLP) including the ability to apply the fundamental principles to exceptional, non-routine cases. Comprehensive in-depth knowledge of international transportation/DG regulations, including the ability to apply the fundamental principles to exceptional, non-routine cases. Comprehensive in-depth knowledge of regulations for compilation of safety data sheets (REACH, GHS) including the ability to apply the fundamental principles to exceptional, non-routine cases. Ability to translate complex hazard information into clear, robust and globally aligned regulatory communication. Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and act as a trusted advisor. Strong coaching/mentoring capability. Good knowledge in English (fluent verbal and written). Strong communication, stakeholder management and networking skills. Experience and/or membership in industry associations is an advantage.
