The European Wind and Solar business area is responsible for the development, ownership and project execution of wind, solar and grid services assets across Statkraft’s European portfolio. We are seeking a Senior Grid Engineer to strengthen our Irish Project Development team, which delivers large-scale wind and solar projects across Statkraft’s portfolio from early-stage feasibility, through development and construction to the operational phase The successful candidate will play a key role in providing expert technical input across all aspects of grid connection, working closely with the wider Grid team. The role will report to the Head of Grid for Onshore Wind and Solar in Ireland. As a Senior Grid Engineer, your main responsibilities will be: Manage and optimise the grid connection process across all project stages, from site selection and feasibility through grid application and offer negotiation, to design, construction, energisation and operations. Undertake high-level electrical design for projects. Work closely with the Project Development and Delivery teams to scope, assess and negotiate technical and commercial aspects of solar and wind grid connection, EPC and related contracts, and manage performance against Employer’s Requirements. Support and manage the procurement of specialist consultants and contractors, including scoping of work packages and ongoing relationship management to meet business needs. Work with the wider Statkraft team to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, with overall responsibility for grid and electrical aspects. Manage contractors and system operators to ensure projects are energised on time and within budget. Identify, manage and communicate grid risks to ensure optimal outcomes, with business cases kept up to date across project timelines and costs. Ensure timely achievement of grid code compliance on projects. Provide grid input to due diligence for M&A and project financing activities, including scoping and review of third-party assessment reports and statements. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and statutory bodies including regulators, system operators and industry representatives. Ensure consultants and contractors comply with Statkraft HSSE policies and procedures and demonstrate commitment to Statkraft safety culture. Undertake additional responsibilities as required. Master’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering or a related discipline. Relevant experience in a similar role or field. Strong interest in renewable energy, particularly the grid connection process. Proactive, with strong attention to detail, highly organised and target oriented. Self-starter with the ability to manage a large workload, prioritise effectively, and balance competing deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams. Ability to clearly frame issues, providing context, analysis, recommendations, and risk/benefit assessments in both written and verbal formats. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Strong IT proficiency. Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget is advantageous. Experience in the Irish energy sector is advantageous.
