Position Title Senior Group Manager - Asset Management Location Work From Home MN, MN 55101 Job Summary A Senior Group Manager-Specialized Industries is assigned to the Specialized Industries’ Financial Institutions Group and is responsible for the management of a team who focuses on new business development, client coverage, portfolio management, credit quality and overall relationship management of the Asset Management client segment. Ensures the generation of revenue by cultivating commercial and corporate relationships and ensuring strong credit quality and return thresholds are met. The senior group manager will be the point of escalation for any complex or challenging relationships/transactions. This Senior Group Manager will be responsible for leading the client coverage effort in the Asset Management sector of Financial Institutions. Responsible for providing holistic relationship management and credit expertise for traditional asset managers, alternative asset managers (including private equity, private debt, venture capital, infrastructure, BDCs, and others), family offices, and pensions. The role requires deep knowledge of the sector and the extensive financial products they utilize. Strong collaboration is a key part of this role, working closely with colleagues in Funds Finance, Sponsors, Commercial Real Estate, Capital Markets, Credit Products, regional coverage officers, etc. Job Responsibilities: Relationship Management/Revenue Generation : Infuses the team’s network of clients and centers of influence with fresh prospects at any time in order to expand opportunities. Serves as an escalation point for any and all client relationships, addressing any issues and removing obstacles to ensure a smooth and beneficial transaction. Personally, manages client relationships as needed or deemed necessary. Assist team with generating revenue, deposit gathering and fee production. Work with product partners on cross-sell efforts to deepen relationships and improve profitability. Management of the Team : Monitors and coach’s performance of team members, ensuring that relationships are created and maintained, taking appropriate action to ensure goals are achieved (including sourcing deals personally if needed), while taking corrective actions if goals are not being achieved and leveraging expertise and knowledge to develop an outstanding team. Attracts, develops and coaches a successful sales team. Responsible for hiring, training, development, and handling of salary administration, performance reviews, and employee relations issues. Strategic Planning : Partners with Division management to create a strategic plan for the assigned Commercial Group and creates action plans to ensure the achievement of the plan including setting and tracking individualized goals for each team member in regards to production and revenue, and forecasting results for management based on existing pipelines. Credit Quality : Ensures the team is pro-actively monitoring the credit quality of their portfolios through timely financial assessment, ongoing due diligence, proactive client engagement and close collaboration with Credit Products and the credit team to recommend and take appropriate corrective actions as needed. Uses independent judgement and discretion to make decisions Analyzes and resolves problems Responsible for talent management functions including: employment, performance evaluations, staff development/training, disciplinary actions, succession planning and ensuring all staff comply with compliance requirements. ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Provides subject matter expertise for the Asset Management sector and financial institutions broadly. Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required. Supports the development of Flagstar’s products and capabilities over time. Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Required Qualifications: Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) or high school diploma with 15+ years of experience Minimum experience required: 12+ Years in commercial, corporate or investment banking (either relationship management, coverage or credit roles). Preferred Qualifications: Banking experience in the asset management sector and/or financial institutions generally Formal credit training Job Competencies: Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
