Overview NV5 Dade Moeller is a leading provider of radiation safety, health physics consulting, and professional training services. We are seeking a highly experienced, motivated Senior Health Physicist to join our team of health physics consultants. This position is ideal for an experienced health physicist who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working directly with clients, and applying practical expertise across a diverse range of radiation safety challenges. You will support public and private sector clients through consulting, field work, regulatory analysis, licensing, decommissioning, training, and other specialized health physics services. What Your Days Will Look Like Your primary focus will be hands-on consulting and technical project work. You will work independently and as part of project teams on a variety of technical assignments. Projects may range from radiation protection program assessments and licensing support to decommissioning and final status surveys, TENORM projects, and emerging energy technologies support. From time to time, you will also serve as an instructor for scheduled training courses, sharing your practical experience and technical knowledge with clients and industry professionals. Responsibilities Solve Complex Technical Challenges: Provide technical expertise and hands-on support for radiation protection program audits and assessments, radioactive materials license applications and amendments, decommissioning and final status surveys, TENORM projects, and other specialized health physics assignments. Support Emerging Energy Technologies: Work with clients in emerging sectors, including fusion energy, small modular reactors (SMRs), and other advanced energy technologies, to understand regulatory requirements, evaluate licensing considerations, and establish appropriate radiological protection requirements. Provide Client-Focused Consulting: Work directly with clients to understand their needs, evaluate technical and regulatory issues, and develop practical, technically defensible solutions. Execute Field and Office Projects: Perform field surveys, radiological assessments, data evaluations, technical reviews, calculations, documentation, and other activities necessary to successfully complete consulting projects. Serve as a Training Instructor: Deliver scheduled radiation safety and health physics training courses on an as-needed basis, translating practical experience into clear and engaging instruction. Stay Ahead of Regulatory Changes: Monitor and interpret evolving regulations, guidance, and industry developments and apply that knowledge to client projects and recommendations. Contribute to Business Development: Identify potential project opportunities through client interactions and professional relationships and communicate those opportunities to appropriate NV5 Dade Moeller staff. Contribute to Division Goals: Apply your technical expertise and project experience to help the division meet its operational and financial objectives. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Health Physics, Radiation Protection, a related technical discipline, or equivalent demonstrated professional experience. Professional Experience: 10+ years of technical and programmatic experience in radiation safety or health physics. Technical Expertise: Demonstrated experience evaluating, developing, implementing, or supporting radiation protection programs and addressing complex technical and regulatory issues. Independent Work: Ability to independently manage assigned technical work, prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work with appropriate direction and support. Communication: Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical and regulatory concepts to clients, colleagues, and non-technical audiences. Client Interaction: Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with clients and represent NV5 Dade Moeller in a professional and credible manner. Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and Webex. Traveling: Ability to travel 25% Preferred Qualifications & Attributes Certification: Certified Health Physicist (CHP) certification through the American Board of Health Physics. Advanced Degree: Master's or doctoral degree in Health Physics, Radiation Protection, or a related discipline. Consulting Experience: Previous experience providing health physics or radiation safety consulting services to public- and private-sector clients. Industry Network: An established professional network within relevant industries and the ability to identify potential opportunities for NV5 Dade Moeller. Training Experience: Experience developing or delivering radiation safety, health physics, or technical training. The pay range for this position is $150,000 to $165,000 per year. Base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
