Your Role at Cabot: Cabot Corporation is seeking a Senior Inkjet Applications Engineer / Manager to join the Inkjet Technical Service team at the Billerica, MA location. This role is a key position with global exposure within the inkjet team to help grow business through greater technical penetration of customer accounts and more effective adoption of Cabot products through the responsibilities below: The customer-facing technical expert supporting the adoption and successful use of Cabot's inkjet dispersion technologies in the Americas region. Serves as the principal technical service conduit between other regions and Cabot’s inkjet R&D hub in Billerica, MA with 1 direct report. The successful candidate will increase Cabot’s profile as a valued technical partner by enabling customer technical success and helping guide the customer’s development of ink solutions. In doing so, the candidate will improve Cabot’s understanding of market needs through market-leading customers. Adapts Cabot knowledge and technical capability to a wide range of customer needs by leading rapid-turnaround laboratory projects for both troubleshooting and prototyping ink/dispersion solution concepts. This role is based at the Billerica, MA location, but is eligible to participate in the current Hybrid Working Arrangement program (Monday/Friday remote and Tuesday-Thursday in office). How You’ll Make an Impact: Leads the technical discovery process to define customer performance requirements, ensuring customer needs are translated into actionable ink/dispersion solutions and Cabot R&D plans. Instructs customers on broad techniques to evaluate and adopt Cabot dispersion products. Proactively thinks through customer engagement strategies. Works cross functionally and with broad latitude within Cabot to ensure customer needs are met and Cabot products are effectively considered for adoption. Leads technical visits to customer locations, independently and with Sales, to support customer trials, evaluations, and problem-solving activities. Identifies and anticipates emerging trends of new product opportunities by assimilating customer challenges observed at multiple customers. Supports Sales as a recognized expert technical advisor. Establishes and oversees quick-turnaround laboratory work on existing or prototype products and ensures prompt completion with written reporting. Manages the investigation and resolution of product/performance related customer complaints. Ensures technical inquiries from the field are promptly and effectively answered. May participate in exhibitions as an expert in the application of Cabot products and solutions. Provides leadership to direct one or a small number of laboratory technician staff. Effectively practices Performance Based Management (PBM) by coaching and developing employees and setting goals and objectives. Devises strategic approaches to contribute to customer projects in the absence of specific customer requests thereby proactively positioning Cabot for greater technical customer engagement. Partners with multiple internal functions to both obtain and provide assistance including with Quality, Production, R&D, Sales, and Marketing. Leads the customer interface on the management of changes to Cabot products and production processes that could affect customer ink formulations. Generates technical documentation, application guidance, and training materials that assist customers. Diligently maintains documentation of problem issues, resolution strategies, and results. Manages scope of service with consideration of strategic priorities, and to set clear targets that balance Cabot’s ability to succeed with intense customer pressures. Tracks the engagement to build a record of data-driven evidence of Cabot value-add we can leverage across multiple functions to penetrate accounts. Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the site/region. What You’ll Bring to Cabot: Bachelor/University Degree 10+ years’ technical experience inclusive of inkjet ink formulation and preferably dispersion science and inkjet system applications engineering. Customer Relationship Excellence: Experience with establishing and maintaining long-term strategic relationships with customers related to technical ink problem solving and ability to seek out requirements needs. Chemical lab experience preferred. Dispersion knowledge and ink formulation knowledge in multiple application spaces such as desktop printing, office printing, industrial printing, and packaging. Managerial experience a plus. Communication skills: Ability to engage in verbal and written communications of complex data that is adaptable to almost any audience in a concise, clear, relevant way and delivered with consideration of commercially sensitive topics. Problem Solving: Can apply multiple specializations to identify causes of, and potential solutions to, complex fluid problems. Is proactive and innovative in identifying and influencing customers to consider new solutions. How We’ll Support Your Success: The pay range for this role is from $148,200 to $214,900 The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skill, qualifications, experience and location.
