Senior Java Developer

Location: Dublin/UK – Hybrid/Remote

Travel: Dublin onsite a few days per month

Salary: €65,000- €80,000 (D.O.E.)

This is an opportunity for experienced Senior Java Developers to work on complex, business-critical technology within the financial services sector, helping design, develop and deliver high-quality Java solutions.

The role can be based anywhere in the UK or Dublin, with the majority of work completed remotely. You must, however, be able to travel to Dublin, Ireland for a few days each month to work onsite with the client team.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design, develop and enhance enterprise Java applications.
• Work hands-on with Java, Spring and Spring Boot technologies.
• Apply your ICON IPF knowledge and experience within a complex banking environment.
• Support the design and integration of technical components and microservices.
• Advocate strong software engineering practices, including coding standards, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Testing.
• Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
• Work closely with technical leads, developers, testers and wider delivery teams.
• Support automated functional and non-functional testing of delivered features.
• Mentor and support junior developers.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of features across development and testing.

What You Need:

• ICON IPF experience.
• Strong commercial Java development experience, ideally across Java 8–17.
• Current, hands-on Java development experience.
• Strong experience with Spring, Spring Boot and/or Spring MVC.
• Experience working with microservices and enterprise application architectures.
• Knowledge of Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and automated testing practices.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced developers.
• The ability to collaborate effectively within large, complex technology programmes.
• Willingness and ability to travel to Dublin for a few days per month.
