Job Title: Senior Java Software Developer

Location: Ireland (Remote)

Our client, a leading global healthcare technology company, is seeking an experienced Senior Java Software Developer to join their software engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a patient information and healthcare data platform supporting healthcare providers and customers worldwide.

The successful candidate will design, develop, and enhance enterprise-level software solutions that securely manage, process, and integrate high volumes of patient and clinical data. This role is suited to an experienced Java developer with strong backend, cloud, and architecture experience who enjoys working on complex, scalable systems within an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level Java applications supporting a cloud-based healthcare data platform
• Develop scalable backend services for the secure processing, integration, and storage of patient and clinical data
• Contribute to software architecture decisions, ensuring applications are reliable, resilient, and scalable
• Build and enhance cloud-based applications deployed globally using AWS and Kubernetes
• Develop APIs and integration services connecting healthcare systems and software platforms
• Design and optimise solutions using SQL and NoSQL databases
• Contribute to event-driven software solutions using technologies such as Apache Kafka
• Support DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment, and system improvements
• Collaborate with software engineers, QA, DevOps, product owners, and technical stakeholders
• Participate in Agile Scrum development processes and provide technical guidance through code reviews and mentoring

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline with 5+ years’ Java/J2EE development experience

OR

• High School Diploma/GED with 9+ years’ Java/J2EE development experience
• Strong experience developing enterprise-level, high-volume applications in cloud environments
• Proven experience with Java development, object-oriented programming, and modern software engineering practices
• Experience designing scalable backend systems and distributed applications
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
• Experience deploying applications using Kubernetes and container-based technologies
• Strong SQL and NoSQL database experience
• Experience developing APIs and integrating complex software systems
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices and automated software delivery pipelines
• Experience with tools such as Git, Jenkins, Jira, IntelliJ, and Ansible
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Desirable Experience:

• Experience developing healthcare, medical device, clinical, or patient information systems
• Familiarity with healthcare data standards including HL7, FHIR, or X12 transactions
• Experience with Apache Kafka or other event streaming technologies
• Experience working within regulated software environments
• Experience working in Agile Scrum development teams
