About the Opportunity

We are hiring for a leading financial institution looking to onboard multiple Senior Java Developers across several critical engineering teams in the Sydney CBD.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on the specific team allocation, you will be responsible for:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure microservices using Java.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams (Product, DevOps, QA) to deliver high-quality financial software.
• Migrating legacy banking applications to modern cloud architectures.
• Participating in code reviews, mentoring junior peers, and championing engineering best practices.

Technical Skills & Experience Required

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Experience: Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in Java development (Java 8/11/17+).
• Industry Background: Proven experience working within the Banking, Financial Services, or FinTech sectors is essential.
• Frameworks: Strong expertise with Spring / Spring Boot, Hibernate, or similar frameworks.
• Architecture: Deep understanding of Microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven design (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Cloud & DevOps: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Database: Proficient in SQL (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases.
• Testing: Commitment to writing clean, testable code using JUnit, Mockito, and TDD practices.

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with domain-driven design(DDD).
• Knowledge of core banking systems, payments infrastructure (e.g., NPP, SWIFT), or trading platforms.
• Familiarity with containerised environments in a highly regulated landscape.
