Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity The School of Education and Social Practice within Te Pūtahi Mātauranga | Faculty of Arts and Education is seeking a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Inclusive Education to join our collegial academic team. This is an opportunity to contribute to teaching, research and service across Inclusive Education, including undergraduate, initial teacher education and postgraduate programmes. You will develop and lead programmes of research, contribute to curriculum development and postgraduate supervision, and build collaborative relationships with schools, policymakers and the wider educational community. A key responsibility of the role will be to serve as Programme Director for the postgraduate specialisation in Inclusive Education. The specialisation develops advanced knowledge and capability in inclusive practices to support diverse learners in educational settings, equipping graduates to influence inclusive policies and practices within their organisations. Key responsibilities include: Delivering high-quality teaching, contributing to curriculum development and supervising postgraduate research students. Developing and leading high-quality research programmes in Inclusive Education, including scholarly publications, research collaborations and external funding opportunities. Providing programme and academic leadership as Programme Director for the postgraduate Inclusive Education specialisation, alongside Course Directorship and School and Faculty service. Building and maintaining positive partnerships with schools, policymakers and the wider educational community. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) permanent position (subject to continuation). The workload split is 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service. Remuneration will be determined based on experience and achievements, in accordance with our Academic Standards policy . The salary ranges are: Senior Lecturer: $126,863 – $158,904 per annum Associate Professor: from $165,808 per annum For more detailed information on the role accountabilities and requirements, please review the Position Description. He kōrero mōu | About you You are a recognised expert in Inclusive Education with a strong record of impactful research and a passion for developing inclusive practice across education settings. You bring deep knowledge of Inclusive Education policies, pedagogies and practices, together with the leadership capability to contribute to teaching, research and programme development. To be successful in this role, you will bring: A PhD in Inclusive Education or a related field. Experience teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Inclusive Education. A strong record of high-quality and impactful publications in Inclusive Education. Deep knowledge of Inclusive Education policies, pedagogies and practices. Proven experience as an engaging and effective teacher, with leadership experience in a tertiary environment. Strong communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, schools, policymakers and community partners.
