Senior Legal Counsel – Germany & Austria (m/w/d)

We’re looking for a Senior Legal Counsel who will support our business in Germany and Austria , own key legal topics across both markets, and help us navigate commercial, regulatory and compliance matters with confidence. This is a role for someone who is proactive, independent, and comfortable building new things — not just maintaining what already exists. You’ll be part of our central Legal team, but your scope will be very much market-facing: helping the business move, grow and stay compliant in two strategically important countries. You’ll work on a broad mix of topics: commercial law, contracts, compliance, regulatory matters, data protection, IP/IT and corporate support . You’ll be trusted to solve problems independently and propose practical, business-friendly solutions. What you’ll do You’ll be the go-to legal expert for market-facing legal matters in Germany and Austria , working closely with business stakeholders and the wider Legal team. Provide legal advice across commercial law, corporate law, regulatory compliance, data protection, IP/IT and e-commerce-related matters Support day-to-day business operations in Germany and Austria with practical, solution-oriented legal guidance Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and legal documents Support strategic projects, including M&A, financing topics, investor-related matters and corporate governance support where relevant to the markets Manage legal projects end-to-end: define the scope, coordinate stakeholders, drive execution and keep quality high Work with external legal counsel where needed, including briefing, coordination and quality control Identify legal risks early and propose pragmatic solutions that reflect both legal requirements and business reality Collaborate closely with internal teams across Legal, Finance, Operations, HR and other functions to move projects forward What we’re looking for Master’s degree in Law (bar exam preferred) 5+ years of legal experience , ideally combining law firm and in-house exposure Strong experience in commercial law, contract law and regulatory compliance Solid understanding of German and Austrian law is required Strong communication skills and confidence working with both internal and external stakeholders Ability to work independently, make decisions and manage multiple legal topics in parallel Proactive mindset, structured way of working, and willingness to start and build new things Team-oriented mindset and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, growing international business Openness to AI, legal tech tools and modern ways of working Fluent English and German are both required What we offer Unlimited vacation days to support a healthy work-life balance Monthly vouchers: €45 tax-free via become.1 €20 monthly internet allowance Knuspr Xtra account and 10% discount in the form of Knuspr credits / cashback Great discounts through Corporate Benefits – fitness, travel, tickets, shopping and much more Real growth: we’re not a traditional corporate.
