About the role:

For a long-term project within the financial sector, we are looking for an experienced Mainframe DB2 & z/OS Specialist.

This is not a typical DB2 DBA role. We are looking for someone who combines strong DB2 knowledge with hands-on z/OS experience, particularly around installation, configuration and mainframe tooling.

A key part of the project is the replacement of existing Broadcom/CA tooling with IBM or other vendor solutions. Experience with similar tooling migrations or replacement projects will therefore be highly relevant.

What you’ll be doing

• Setting up, configuring and maintaining DB2 on z/OS
• Supporting DB2 subsystem installation, upgrades and migrations
• Working with z/OS installation and configuration
• Supporting the replacement of Broadcom/CA tools with IBM or other vendor tooling
• Configuring and integrating replacement tools within the existing mainframe environment
• Working with DB2 utilities including REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, COPY and RECOVER
• Troubleshooting DB2 and z/OS-related issues
• Supporting performance tuning, monitoring and capacity management
• Supporting releases, changes and database migrations
• Working closely with DB2, z/OS, application and infrastructure teams

What we’re looking for

You don’t need to be a hardcore DB2 DBA. What’s more important is that you understand DB2 from a systems perspective and know your way around the wider z/OS environment.

Ideally, you bring:

• 10+ years of experience within mainframe environments
• Strong experience with DB2 on z/OS
• Hands-on experience with z/OS installation and configuration
• Experience with DB2 subsystem setup and system-level activities
• Experience with Broadcom/CA mainframe or DB2 tooling
• Experience with tool replacement, product migration or vendor migration
• Knowledge of JCL, SDSF and common DB2 utilities/tools
• Experience within banking or financial services is a plus
• Fluent English, both spoken and written

Experience migrating tools such as CA Fast Check, CA Fast Index, CA Fast Load or CA Fast Recover to IBM DB2 Utilities Suite or comparable solutions would be particularly interesting.
