Senior Manager, Infrastructure Systems About the Role The Senior Manager, Infrastructure Systems is accountable for ensuring the reliability, availability, security, scalability, and operational efficiency of infrastructure services supporting our Commercial, Government, and Transportation client environments. This role leads a global team responsible for the operational support of distributed systems, infrastructure platforms, and compute hardware across hybrid environments consisting of on-premises, cloud, and integrated platform services. The Senior Manager provides both strategic direction and execution leadership, balancing operational excellence with continuous service improvement, modernization, automation, and innovation. This leader is responsible for ensuring infrastructure services consistently meet business requirements, service level objectives, compliance requirements, and client expectations. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional prioritization skills, effectively balances demand versus capacity, and continuously evaluates organizational focus to ensure resources are aligned to the highest-value, highest-risk work. This individual must be capable of leading through high-pressure situations while maintaining strong partnerships with business leaders, technology executives, architecture teams, engineering teams, and operational stakeholders. Responsibilities Operational Leadership Lead and oversee operational support for distributed systems, infrastructure services, and compute hardware across global environments. Ensure predictable, high-quality Systems Operations support across hybrid infrastructure environments, including on-premises, cloud, and shared-service platforms. Maintain accountability for infrastructure reliability, availability, performance, recoverability, and operational readiness. Drive operational excellence through defined service management practices, operational governance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Distributed Systems & Platform Operations Manage Linux and Windows platforms across Azure and on-premises environments. Oversee operations and lifecycle management of compute infrastructure, including UCS, blade, and virtualization platforms. Provide leadership across hybrid infrastructure technologies supporting enterprise and client workloads. Partner with Engineering, Architecture, Cloud, and Security teams to ensure operational supportability of new solutions. Incident, Problem & Service Management Lead major incident response efforts to rapidly restore services and maintain business continuity. Provide executive-level communications during critical incidents, service disruptions, and high-visibility events. Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and problem management activities to reduce recurring incidents. Establish and monitor operational health indicators, service-level agreements (SLAs), and service-level objectives (SLOs). Demand, Capacity & Resource Management Actively manage demand versus capacity, ensuring resources remain focused on the highest-value and highest-risk initiatives. Partner with business and technology stakeholders to prioritize, sequence, and govern work intake. Drive capacity planning processes to support current and future business requirements. Continuously evaluate organizational priorities to optimize productivity, service quality, and operational outcomes. Security, Compliance & Risk Management Ensure infrastructure operations align with enterprise security standards, regulatory requirements, and compliance obligations. Drive vulnerability remediation governance, patch compliance, and infrastructure risk reduction initiatives. Support audit activities and maintain operational controls necessary for regulatory, contractual, and internal compliance requirements. Promote a security-first mindset across infrastructure operations teams. Automation & Continuous Improvement Champion automation, operational efficiency, and observability initiatives to reduce manual effort and improve service reliability. Drive adoption of modern operational practices, including Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, event correlation, and platform automation where applicable. Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, tooling, and service delivery effectiveness. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Financial & Asset Stewardship Partner with technology leaders to optimize infrastructure spend, asset utilization, and operational efficiency. Support infrastructure budgeting, forecasting, and capacity planning activities. Oversee lifecycle management of infrastructure assets and ensure alignment with technology roadmaps. Drive cost optimization initiatives across cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments. Leadership & Stakeholder Management Provide influential leadership across matrixed Engineering, Architecture, Security, Operations, and Support organizations. Serve as a trusted operational partner to business leaders and technology executives. Build, develop, and mentor high-performing global teams focused on operational excellence and client satisfaction. Maintain composure, credibility, and sound decision-making under pressure and during aggressive delivery timelines. Drive accountability, collaboration, and strategic execution across organizational boundaries. Qualifications Required 10+ years of experience in Infrastructure Operations, Systems Engineering, Cloud Operations, or Technology Leadership. 5+ years of experience leading technical teams in large-scale enterprise environments. Proven experience supporting hybrid infrastructure solutions across cloud and on-premises platforms. Demonstrated expertise supporting large-scale Linux and Windows environments. Strong understanding of infrastructure operations, service management, and operational governance. Experience leading major incident response and service restoration efforts in high-availability environments. Strong prioritization skills with the ability to continually reassess work based on value, risk, and available capacity. Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to lead effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities in high-visibility environments. Solid understanding of infrastructure architecture, resiliency, security, scalability, and operational supportability principles. Preferred Experience with Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments. Experience supporting virtualization, compute, storage, and enterprise infrastructure platforms. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation platforms, and modern observability solutions. Experience supporting regulated industries and compliance-driven environments. ITIL, Azure, or related infrastructure certifications.
