As a Senior Manager in our Tokyo office, you will play an important role in some of the most strategic and complex transactions in the Japanese renewable energy market. You will work directly with leading developers, utilities, infrastructure funds, institutional investors, lenders, and international sponsors across technologies including offshore wind, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), hydrogen, and emerging energy transition sectors.

About the Japan Team
Green Giraffe Advisory established its Japan office in 2022 to support the rapid growth of the energy transition across Japan and the wider Apac region. Since then, our Tokyo team is one of the leading independent energy transition advisory teams in the market, advising on high-profile M&A, development equity, project finance, strategic advisory, and capital raising transactions.
Our Japan platform works closely with colleagues across Apac, Europe, and Africa, combining deep local market expertise with global renewable energy transaction experience.
Key Responsibilities
Taking responsibility for advisory missions e.g. relating to financial structuring, raising required debt or supporting M&A equity finance transactions
Leading the interactions with clients, banks and other project stakeholders
Supervising financial analysts on the development and management of financial models and cash flow valuations for renewable energy projects
Overseeing due diligence processes including work prepared by your internal team (associates and analysts) and by other advisors
Gathering of market intelligence on sectors of interest to the company such as electricity markets, debt markets or venture capital markets
Contribute actively in business development and originating new opportunities in Japan and the wider APAC region by proactively maintaining relationships with existing clients, developing your network and reaching out to new potential clients
Mentor and develop Associates and Analysts across technical, commercial, and professional skill sets while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance team culture
Being active in sharing knowledge internally within the local, regional and international team
Active participation in an entrepreneurial, international and dynamic team focused on making projects happen and going the extra mile for the client
Candidate Profile
We are seeking an ambitious, commercially minded, and entrepreneurial professional with a strong passion for renewable energy and the energy transition.
The ideal candidate will have:
Extensive experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, project finance, M&A, investment banking, private equity, or financial advisory
Strong deal transaction execution experience across renewable energy and infrastructure sectors
Excellent financial modelling, valuation, and analytical capabilities
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
The ability to lead multiple workstreams and manage transactions independently
A proactive mindset with strong ownership and accountability
The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, international, and entrepreneurial environment
Qualifications & Skills:
Fluency in both Japanese and English (written and spoken)
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, or related discipline
Strong understanding of project finance, structured finance, and M&A transaction processes
Experience working with lenders, sponsors, investors, or developers in the renewable energy sector
Excellent presentation and client-facing communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships internally and externally
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
