Position Summary The Senior Manager, Technical Accounting will lead the company's technical accounting function, with a focus on revenue recognition for services provided under state Medicaid programs, supporting self-directed care and home and community-based services programs. This role ensures accounting policies comply with U.S. GAAP (ASC 606 and related guidance) and works closely with Account Management, RCM and FP&A to ensure revenue is recognized appropriately across a portfolio of state contracts with varying fee structures, funding mechanisms, and reporting requirements. As a private company, this role also plays a key part in building GAAP-compliant processes and controls to support lender/investor reporting, audit requirements, and future readiness for growth (e.g., new state contract wins, refinancing, or a potential transaction). Key Responsibilities Revenue Recognition Evaluate revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606 for state and county contracts, including per-member-per-month (PMPM) fees, per-transaction fees, cost-reimbursement arrangements, and hybrid fee structures common to FMS programs Review revenue-related journal entries, account reconciliations and management reporting Analyze variable consideration, price concessions, and constraints related to state rate changes, retroactive rate adjustments, and contract modifications/amendments Review new and renewed state contracts (RFP awards, amendments, rate letters) with Account Management to determine recognition timing and treatment, including accounting for deferred fulfillment costs Maintain the company's revenue recognition policy and contract-specific position papers/memos across the state contract portfolio Technical Accounting Research and document accounting positions on new and complex transactions, including ASC 842 leases, ASC 718 equity-based compensation, derivatives, etc. Draft technical accounting memos and whitepapers supporting significant judgments and estimates, including participant fund pass-through accounting (assessing gross vs. net presentation for participant payroll and related disbursements) and any fiduciary/agency relationships Monitor FASB updates and emerging guidance relevant to the Company and document impact Support technical accounting for new state contract wins, program expansions, and any potential M&A or financing activity Process, Controls & Reporting Design and maintain internal controls over revenue recognition, contract billing, and related accounts (deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, participant fund liabilities) appropriate for a private company Serve as primary point of contact for external auditors and lenders on revenue-related matters, including preparation of audit-ready support and technical memos Partner with RCM and Account Management to ensure systems, contract terms, and rate schedules are accurately reflected in recognized revenue and reconciled to state remittances/invoices Support month-end and quarter-end close for revenue, unbilled/deferred revenue, contract assets, and participant fund-related balance sheet accounts Assist with external reporting requirements, including compliance certificates. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA required (or actively pursuing) 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) and/or technical accounting experience in industry Strong, hands-on knowledge of ASC 606 and experience applying it to complex, non-standard contracts Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP Excellent written communication skills, with demonstrated experience drafting technical accounting memos Preferred Experience in government services, healthcare services, Medicaid/Medicaid managed care, human services, or public sector contracting Experience with gross vs. net revenue presentation and agency/principal considerations (ASC 606-10-55) in pass-through or fund administration arrangements Experience with private company reporting requirements (lender covenants, quality of earnings, audit readiness) Compensation Range: $140,000-$155,000 This role is eligible for a base salary within the posted range. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, and geographic location. Compensation may vary for positions based in high cost-of-labor markets.
