Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Responsibilities & Requirements As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, you will work to design, test, improve, and support equipment designed by MiTek for the truss manufacturing industry. In this position you will work on robust machinery design that helps customers to improve their production output. Mechanical Engineers at MiTek design, document, and troubleshoot all components such as overall machine design, structural frames, mechanical power transmission, and manufacturability of machinery. You will design the full mechanical assembly of the automated machine and be involved in every stage of the system from concept to production. Mechanical Engineers work closely with Electrical and Manufacturing Engineers, as well as Production, Software, Customer Service, and other administrative departments to ensure a successful product. Responsibilities: Design, develop, evaluate, and support automated industrial machinery products for the Component Manufacturing (CM) and off-site construction industry Lead team members through the planning, development, and deployment of complex mechanical architectures with a high level of integrated automation Generate mechanical project execution artifacts of small to large scale deployments (i.e. cost estimates, schedules, resource needs, risks, forecasts, status, etc.) Lead mechanical team members through staged-gating process (i.e. requirements reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, verification reviews, etc.) Lead team members through troubleshooting and root cause/corrective actions Design, integrate and test mechanical parts and assemblies using industry best practices Design, integrate and test industrial pneumatic and hydraulic systems Design, integrate and test industrial electro-mechanical & robotic systems Develop and maintain project documentation (i.e. system requirements, engineering drawings, equipment manuals, test plans, project notes, etc.) Ensure compliance with MiTek engineering procedures, guidelines, industry standards, and governmental regulations applicable to industrial machinery Perform engineering analysis and calculations where applicable (including FEA analysis) Enter new/update existing data in MRP/ERP system Support Manufacturing, Marketing & Sales, Purchasing, Installation, and Customer Service organizations throughout a product’s lifecycle Review/stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies Mentor less experienced Mechanical Engineers and Designers Manage individual tasking while leading other Engineers through project execution with minimal oversight Some travel required (up to 20% during critical on-site activities) Other duties as assigned Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university required 5+ years of mechanical engineering design experience focused on machinery and automated systems Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis Strong understanding of strength of materials, statics, and dynamics Proficiency with SolidWorks, PDM, and AutoCAD Mechanical Proficiency in machined, formed and welded designs and drawings using GD&T Proficiency in pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.) Ability to rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot automated machinery Ability to work individually and as part of a team Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure & deadlines Strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills Strong communication skills to interact frequently with stakeholders MiTek Perks: Generous time off including Paid Time Off, 13 annual holidays, and volunteer time off Day One Medical/Rx, Dental and Vision Plans Family friendly benefits including Paid Caregiver Leave, Paid Parental Leave and Adoption Reimbursement Performance/Incentive bonuses Career advancement, training opportunities, Employee Resource Groups, and tuition reimbursement Retirement programs including Matching 401(k) Contributions and Profit Sharing Employer paid Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability and Life Insurance myFlexPay partner – allows you to track, manage and access your pay anytime MiTek is a platform innovator and enabler that exists to transform the building industry with better building solutions.
