About the Opportunity:

A leading Irish engineering and building services consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with Data Centre project experience to join its expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale, technically complex construction projects. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring high-quality mechanical design coordination, commissioning, and project delivery. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong technical expertise, excellent coordination skills, and a proven track record of delivering mechanical building services packages on major construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage technical coordination of the mechanical package throughout project delivery.
• Lead client meetings and coordinate all mechanical engineering communications.
• Manage technical submittals, RFIs, and design reviews.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, and CSA interfaces to ensure seamless installation.
• Develop and review commissioning documentation for mechanical systems.
• Prepare and review method statements and risk assessments.
• Monitor installation progress and ensure works remain on programme.
• Support cost management, change control, and variation assessments.
• Drive completion of O&M manuals and handover documentation.
• Mentor and support junior Mechanical Engineers and Package Managers.

Essential Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering mechanical packages on large-scale construction projects such as data centres, pharmaceutical, industrial, or other mission-critical developments.
• Strong understanding of mechanical commissioning, technical submittals, and RFI management.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
• Proactive approach with strong attention to detail and commitment to professional standards.

Desirable Experience:

• Data centre project delivery.
• Commissioning of mechanical building services.
• Coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
• BIM coordination and digital construction platforms.
• Strong commercial awareness.
• Chartered Engineer status or working toward chartership.
• Leadership or mentoring experience.
• Experience with cleanroom, pharmaceutical, or highly regulated projects.
• Knowledge of LEED, sustainable building standards, or energy-efficient design.
