Job Summary The Senior Medical Director is a highly visible, client-facing physician leader responsible for supporting the clinical and coding success of Enjoin's DRG Assurance client portfolio. This role analyzes program outcomes, presents findings to clients, delivers physician and CDI education, and provides strategic guidance designed to strengthen documentation integrity, coding accuracy, quality outcomes, and operational performance. Working closely with clients and internal teams, the Senior Medical Director also supports Advisory engagements, DRG Secure and DRG Assurance denials, and other strategic initiatives. This position serves as a clinical subject-matter expert and industry thought leader, representing Enjoin through client education, speaking engagements, and published content. What You'll Do Analyze DRG Assurance data and clearly present program outcomes, trends, risks, and opportunities to clients Serve as a trusted clinical advisor to clients, helping align clinical criteria, documentation practices, coding processes, and strategic goals Educate physicians, CDI professionals, coding teams, and other healthcare stakeholders on complete and accurate medical record documentation Provide education on working and final DRG assignment and the impact of documentation and coding on reimbursement, quality outcomes, and provider profiling Lead client engagements and special projects as assigned, ensuring the quality and timely delivery of project outcomes Support Advisory initiatives and DRG Secure and DRG Assurance denial engagements Forecast and anticipate client needs based on program performance, outcomes, challenges, and opportunities Maintain strong client relationships while promptly and professionally addressing questions, concerns, and service requests Prepare detailed written reports, recommendations, and client-facing presentations Maintain current knowledge of MS-DRGs, ICD-10-CM/PCS, Official Coding Guidelines, Coding Clinic guidance, Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCCs), and related industry developments Collaborate with internal leaders and subject-matter experts to support client success and the expansion of consulting services Provide clinical subject-matter input for internal and client-facing educational content Represent Enjoin at industry events and speaking engagements and contribute to published thought-leadership content Monitor and report on established performance targets, including client satisfaction, thought-leadership output, and cost-per-chart efficiency Contribute to quality improvement initiatives that strengthen service delivery, methodologies, productivity, and business operations Maintain accurate organizational records and strict confidentiality of patient, physician, employee, and client information Qualifications Required Medical Degree, Doctor of Osteopathy, or Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience Strong knowledge of clinical documentation integrity, inpatient coding, DRG methodology, ICD-10-CM/PCS, coding guidelines, and healthcare quality outcomes Experience educating or presenting to physicians, CDI professionals, coding teams, healthcare leaders, or other clinical audiences Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide client engagements and collaborate across clinical, coding, operational, and executive teams Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to interpret complex clinical and coding data and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations Strong client-service orientation with the ability to establish credibility and maintain trusted professional relationships Ability to independently manage multiple client priorities, projects, deadlines, and deliverables Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% Preferred CCS, CCDS, CRCR, CDIP, HCQM, or ACPA-C credential Experience supporting DRG assurance, clinical validation, denials, CDI, coding, or healthcare consulting engagements Experience leading client-facing education, strategic initiatives, or special projects Experience participating in industry speaking engagements or developing published thought-leadership content Work Environment & Expectations Fully remote, full-time position (40 hours per week) Monday through Friday during regular business hours Company-issued equipment provided Dedicated secure home workspace required High-speed internet connection required Strict adherence to HIPAA Privacy and Security requirements Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality expectations Why Enjoin At Enjoin, we believe exceptional people deserve exceptional support.
