Responsibilities Design, build, and scale highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems for the Acropolis management control plane of the Nutanix operating system. Develop and deliver end-to-end features that support scalability to millions of VMs across thousands of datacenter nodes. Drive architecture and implementation decisions with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and operational excellence. Lead technical design discussions and evaluate trade-offs in distributed systems, clustering, and large-scale service architectures. Collaborate with geo-distributed teams to deliver projects with high quality, predictability, and ownership. Mentor and guide a team of 3–4 engineers through technical leadership, code reviews, and best engineering practices. Take ownership of feature execution from design through deployment while maintaining a high-quality bar. Required Skills Strong expertise in designing and developing scalable distributed systems. Deep understanding of clustered, high-performance, fault-tolerant systems and associated design trade-offs. Strong knowledge of OS internals and systems-level architecture. Proven experience building and shipping production-grade backend services at scale. Ability to independently drive projects with strong ownership and execution skills. Excellent collaboration skills for working with globally distributed engineering teams. Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to initiate, execute, and deliver complex features end-to-end. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. A master's degree in computer science or a related discipline is preferred. 10+ years of industry experience in systems or platform engineering. Hands-on experience developing large-scale distributed platforms and infrastructure software. Preferred Programming Languages Python Go (Golang) --
