The role will initially be split approximately 50% manual testing and 50% automation , with the expectation that the position will gradually evolve toward approximately 80% automation and 20% manual testing as the automation framework and coverage mature. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with native mobile application automation using Appium, TypeScript, and Mocha , along with experience executing tests through BrowserStack and integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines . Responsibilities Manual Testing – Initial Focus Perform functional, regression, smoke, integration, and exploratory testing of native mobile applications. Create and maintain detailed test cases, test scenarios, and test data. Identify, document, and track defects through the development lifecycle. Collaborate with developers, product owners, and other QA engineers to investigate and resolve issues. Participate in release validation and provide feedback on application quality. Identify repetitive and regression scenarios that are suitable for automation. Automation Testing Develop, maintain, and execute automated tests for native Android and/or iOS applications using Appium and TypeScript . Use Mocha for test organization and execution. Build and maintain scalable, reusable, and reliable mobile automation frameworks. Apply automation best practices such as Page Object Model (POM) , reusable utilities, appropriate waits, robust locators, and effective assertions. Execute automated test suites locally and using BrowserStack . Perform cross-device and cross-platform testing. Analyze automation failures and perform root-cause analysis. Maintain and enhance automated regression coverage as new features are delivered. Continuously identify opportunities to replace suitable manual regression scenarios with automated tests. Experience automating both Android and iOS applications. Experience developing or enhancing an Appium automation framework. Knowledge of Page Object Model (POM) and automation design patterns. Experience with parallel execution and cross-device testing. Knowledge of Node.js , npm, and TypeScript configuration . Experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps. Familiarity with API testing is an advantage. Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. 3+ years of QA experience with a strong focus on automation and/or mobile testing. Demonstrated hands-on experience with Appium and TypeScript . Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Good communication and collaboration skills.
