Senior Modernization Engineer -Forward Deployed Engineer

The Role As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work closely with strategically important customers to solve complex technical challenges and deliver meaningful business outcomes. By combining engineering, consulting, and product expertise, you will shape and deliver practical solutions focused on AI adoption and system modernization, leading engagements end to end from requirements definition and implementation through production deployment, adoption, and continuous improvement. You will also leverage Generative AI, Agentic AI, and multi-agent technologies to create business value in complex enterprise environments. What you will do ・Partner with customers to understand business challenges, current processes, technical constraints, and desired outcomes, translating them into actionable AI and modernization solutions. ・Facilitate workshops and working sessions with business stakeholders, consulting teams, product teams, and engineering teams to align on solution direction and delivery approach. ・Design, build, and continuously improve AI-powered applications using modern software engineering practices and cloud-native technologies. Develop agentic workflows, Generative AI solutions, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, enterprise automation capabilities, and production-ready prototypes. ・Lead end-to-end solution delivery, including requirements definition, architecture design, implementation, deployment, adoption, troubleshooting, and optimization. ・Integrate AI solutions with enterprise platforms, APIs, cloud services, data stores, knowledge repositories, vector databases, and business workflows while ensuring performance, scalability, reliability, security, and governance. ・Contribute reusable assets, solution patterns, code libraries, delivery playbooks, and best practices while continuously exploring emerging AI and cloud technologies to enhance customer outcomes and Kyndryl capabilities. Who You Are Required skills and experience ・Hands-on software development experience in Python or modern programming languages such as C#, Node.js, or TypeScript. ・Strong software engineering fundamentals, including SDLC, Git/GitHub, APIs, backend services, automated testing, CI/CD, and secure engineering practices. ・Experience designing, building, or integrating AI-powered solutions using agentic AI frameworks and tools such as LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, Microsoft Agent Framework, AutoGen, CrewAI, or equivalent. ・Solid understanding of AI/ML(Machine Learning) technologies and modern AI architectures, including TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, and vector databases. ・Experience with cloud-native and distributed systems, including Azure, AWS, or GCP, as well as Docker and Kubernetes. ・Ability to optimize AI-enabled solutions for performance, scalability, reliability, observability, security, and data protection. ・Strong consulting, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English and the ability to translate business requirements into technical outcomes. Preferred skills and experience • Degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Data Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. • Real project experience implementing, operating and improving AI, Generative AI, Agentic AI or multi-agent solutions in production environments. • Experience building full-stack prototypes or production systems using frontend, backend, API(Application Programming Interface), data and cloud services. • Experience with agent telemetry, observability, evaluation frameworks, guardrails, policy-as-code, knowledge graphs or semantic knowledge layers. • Experience integrating AI solutions into enterprise systems such as APIs, workflows, data platforms, knowledge repositories and cloud services. • Experience working with customers in regulated or mission-critical environments where reliability, security and compliance are essential. • Experience contributing reusable assets, reference implementations, solution patterns, code libraries, delivery playbooks or platform improvements.
