We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Senior Organizer to join the Common Cause team in Minnesota. This role is critical in growing and diversifying our base of supporters, building partnerships, and driving civic engagement across the state. The Senior Organizer will also play a key role in coordinating grassroots actions, supporting policy advocacy efforts, and coordinating volunteers. This is a full-time, temporary role starting October 1, 2026, and ending March 31, 2028. This role will report to the State Director, Minnesota and is role is based in Central Southern Minnesota, with an expectation to travel around Rochester, Mankato, St. Cloud, as well as other parts of Minnesota, at least three days per week. Responsibilities Grow, diversify, and engage supporters Draft plans for and implement engaging, nonpartisan education and outreach activities to expand awareness of our work Present on behalf of Common Cause at coalition meetings and other events Support the planning and facilitation of coalition meetings and events Proactively build and maintain relationships with community partners and members Collaborate with coalition partners to coordinate grassroots actions and advance campaigns Draft compelling communications for state-level campaigns in collaboration with teammates Coordinate communications on social media, websites, and email to ensure messaging aligns with our brand and values Assist in media relations efforts, including contributing to press materials and supporting media outreach strategies Engage members through digital communications (email, social media, etc.) Collaborate with other state staff to coordinate and manage projects and tasks within the election protection program Recruit, train, coordinate and mentor interns and volunteers to support our work Support our research, policy and advocacy work Support research and advocacy efforts on democracy issues, such as voting rights and civil rights Monitor legislative developments and identify trends and opportunities on our core issues at the state, county, and municipal levels Track bills relevant to our issue areas during legislative session Draft and coordinate resources to support public comment and testimony on key legislation Execute advocacy strategies Support fundraising and advisory board management Support the State Director and other staff in fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation, grant support, and reporting for foundations and major donors Assist with administrative tasks for the state advisory board, including meeting coordination, logistics, and preparation of materials Administrative and other duties Complete administrative tasks as needed Perform other duties as assigned You will thrive in this role if you have: A strong commitment to Common Cause’s nonpartisan mission and to advancing civil rights through our pro-democracy agenda A commitment to equity in the goals of your work and in how you work with others Openness to feedback and awareness of your own strengths and areas for growth Ability to build relationships and credibility with multiple stakeholders with diverse interests, and a track record of working collaboratively with others Ability to meet deadlines for multiple projects at once, with attention to detail, and a resourceful approach to solving problems Strong written and oral communication skills Familiarity with office productivity tools including Microsoft Office, Slack, and Zoom The following is required: Demonstrated knowledge of and strong interest in current statewide democracy issues, including voting rights, redistricting, campaign finance reform, disinformation, ethics, etc., with a demonstrated interest in the unique aspects of Minnesota’s political dynamic Demonstrated interest in public interest advocacy campaigns and mobilization efforts, with a willingness to participate in advocacy efforts including protest, in accordance with Common Cause protocols Willing to have a social media presence on behalf of Common Cause, including being tagged on posts and creating content on behalf of the organization (as needed, Common Cause may provide accounts for staff members to use) Ability to travel 1-2 times per year for team and/or all staff retreats Ability to travel to and work in-person in Rochester, Mankato, St. Cloud, as well as other parts of Minnesota at least three days per week You must have access to a vehicle to transport election materials (miles driven on official business in your personal vehicle will be reimbursed at the federal mileage rate) Per our nonpartisan policy, Common Cause staff members may not currently be in elected office (or running for office); on the Steering Committee or Finance Committee for any political candidate; or affiliated with the leadership of a political party Additional information about this role: This position is included in a union-represented collective bargaining unit and specific employment terms and conditions are subject to collective bargaining negotiations Common Cause is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time; please note that if hired, you will be asked to produce documentation for authorization to work in the US Common Cause is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants of any race, creed, color, religion, ethnicity, national origin, income class, political affiliation, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, veteran status, or marital status, as well as applicants who have been previously incarcerated.
