This key role combines PLC/HMI programming, system integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, documentation, safety compliance, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to continuously improve automation solutions. Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and optimize PLC and HMI programs for automation systems using platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, ABB, or others as required. Program in ladder logic, structured text, and function blocks while producing clear documentation, including functional specifications, logic flow diagrams, and operating manuals. Integrate PLC systems with HMIs, sensors, actuators, and other devices, as well as industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, EtherNet/IP, or OPC-UA. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to ensure seamless integration of automation systems. Diagnose, troubleshoot, update, and improve existing control systems to minimize downtime and prevent recurring issues. Participate in project commissioning, FAT/SAT testing, and on-site troubleshooting. Lead or support automation projects from design through completion, including schedules, project scopes, and budgets. Ensure compliance with industrial safety standards such as NFPA 70E, ISO, or IEC, and mentor less experienced team members. What We’re Looking For Degree in electrical engineering, automation, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. More than 8 years of hands-on experience in PLC programming and industrial automation, with proficiency in at least two major PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Omron. Knowledge of SCADA systems, HMI software, industrial control systems, and instrumentation; robotic integration experience is an asset. Critical thinking, versatility, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. Proficiency in French is mandatory; proficiency in English is also required to communicate with internal clients and partners located outside Quebec. Why Join Systemex?
