This is a remote contract role of approximately two to three months, with an immediate start. You will sit at the intersection of business leadership and technical delivery—meeting with client stakeholders to understand their reporting and analytics needs, translating those needs into scalable Power BI solutions, and building them hands-on. Day to day, you will move between requirements conversations with executives, data modeling and DAX development, and close collaboration with engineering teams on integration and architecture. The strongest fit is someone who is genuinely expert in Power BI and equally comfortable operating in a senior consulting capacity: able to engage client leadership on the underlying business problem, earn credibility with technical teams, and turn ambiguous requirements into high-quality, well-governed BI solutions. What You Will Do Client Engagement & Requirements Work directly with client stakeholders to understand business, reporting, and analytics requirements. Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and executive audiences. Present technical concepts to senior business stakeholders in terms tied to business outcomes. Solution Design & Development Translate business requirements into scalable Power BI solutions and data models. Design, develop, and optimize Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations. Develop advanced DAX calculations and Power Query/M transformations. Data Modeling & Security Create and maintain dimensional data models with appropriate relationships. Configure and manage Row-Level Security (RLS) and dynamic hierarchies so that data access aligns to user roles. Analyze and cleanse data, and troubleshoot data-quality and reporting issues. Collaboration & Technical Advisory Partner with technical and engineering teams on data integration, architecture, and reporting requirements. Provide senior-level guidance and best practices for Power BI development and implementation. What You Bring Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Experience 5+ years of relevant BI and data analytics experience, with significant hands-on Power BI delivery. Demonstrated experience with dimensional modeling, data warehouses, and ER models. Hands-on experience implementing Row-Level Security and dynamic hierarchies. Prior experience working directly with U.S. clients and cross-functional technical teams. Strong client-facing communication and consulting skills, with the ability to operate independently in a senior advisory capacity. Technical Expertise Advanced expertise with Power BI, SQL, DAX, and Power Query/M. Strong working knowledge of Power BI Service and enterprise data modeling. Preferred Qualifications Power BI Report Builder and paginated reports. Microsoft Fabric. Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate. Analysis Services. Azure DevOps and Git or comparable version control. Python for data analysis and cleansing. Tableau, Qlik, or Looker. Data governance and documentation practices. Microsoft and Azure data technologies such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics. Certifications Microsoft PL-300, DP-600, DP-700, or PL-900 preferred. Databricks Certified Data Analyst Associate preferred. Engagement Requirements Must be based in the United States. Available to work standard U.S. business hours in close collaboration with client stakeholders. Remote work; contract engagement of approximately two to three months with an immediate start.
