Senior Product Engineer

Company Description WishBuilt is a business systems studio that helps growing companies whose operations have not kept up with their size. The team identifies where work gets stuck, redesigns how it should run, and builds targeted solutions such as dashboards, internal apps, automations, or integrations—sometimes deciding that no new software is needed. Work follows a consistent cycle of Understand → Design → Build → Measure, ensuring that technology choices are driven by the problem, not made in advance. Recent projects include turning 1,700 dormant patient records into a daily calling routine for a dental clinic and creating self-assembling strategic reports for a manufacturer after an ERP rollout. Every client engagement begins with a fixed-price, two-week diagnostic to determine the baseline, the bottlenecks, and what is truly worth building.
Role Description The Senior Product Engineer will work on a contract basis in a remote capacity, collaborating closely with clients and the WishBuilt team to design and build systems that improve operational workflows. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing client processes and data, translating problem definitions into product requirements, and designing solutions such as internal tools, dashboards, and automations. The role involves selecting appropriate technologies during the design phase, implementing robust and maintainable product features, and iterating based on measured outcomes. The Senior Product Engineer will participate in client diagnostics, communicate findings and recommendations clearly, and ensure that each solution is aligned with the agreed business metrics and the Understand → Design → Build → Measure framework.
Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills to diagnose operational bottlenecks, interpret business metrics, and make data-informed decisions.
• Demonstrated experience in product engineering, including building internal tools, integrations, and scalable system components.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with clients, documenting requirements, and explaining complex technical concepts in clear language.
• Experience with product design and R&D, including translating workflows into product architectures and experimenting with solution approaches.
• Proficiency with modern software development practices and tools (e.g., web application frameworks, APIs, automation platforms, databases).
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple client engagements, and deliver on contract-based timelines.
• Familiarity with business operations, process design, or consulting in growth-stage organizations is beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems) or equivalent practical experience.
