Senior Project Coordinator

Snaking River Consulting
Posted 4 days ago

Is this job info correct?

Company Description

Snaking River Consulting is a deliberately small consulting company. That isn't because we're trying to grow into something bigger. It's because we believe our size is one of our greatest strengths.

We work for Indigenous governments, organizations, and businesses to advance projects that strengthen communities and support self determination. We’ve intentionally remained small so we can stay responsive, adaptable, and closely connected to the work. Our clients know us personally, and we know their communities, priorities, and challenges. We only work on projects that align with our values and where we know we can make a meaningful contribution. We believe the best work happens when we build trusted, long-term relationships and become an extension of our clients' teams, rather than simply another consultant.

Our work spans governance, infrastructure, housing, fisheries, economic development, renewable energy, strategic planning, community engagement, organizational development, and funding acquisition. Every project is different, but each one is grounded in collaboration, respect, and a genuine commitment to helping our clients achieve their goals.

Most of our work comes through referrals and long-standing relationships built on trust, quality, and results. We believe that reputation is earned through the work we do and the relationships we build.

About the Role Description

As our Senior Project Coordinator, you will work directly alongside the Principal Consultant, supporting multiple projects and clients simultaneously while gaining exposure to every aspect of running a successful consulting business.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and finds satisfaction in helping complex projects run smoothly.

We are looking for someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity. You take pride in producing thoughtful, polished work, anticipating what needs to happen next, and ensuring projects continue moving forward without waiting for someone to ask.

You'll work on projects that impact Indigenous communities throughout British Columbia while developing a broad range of consulting, project management, communication, and leadership skills.

We are committed to investing in your professional growth. If your long-term goal is to build a career supporting First Nations or eventually establish your own consulting practice, this role is designed to provide mentorship, hands on experience, and increasing responsibility as your skills and confidence grow.

Position Details and Responsibilities

This is a fully remote position. We offer flexibility in how your workday is structured, and your work can be completed at times that best suit your schedule.

Because we work closely with clients across British Columbia, successful candidates must be available to attend virtual meetings between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM Pacific Time when required. While meetings will not occupy your entire day, flexibility during these hours is an essential part of the role.

Project Coordination

o Coordinate meetings with clients, project partners, and community representatives.

o Prepare agendas, meeting materials, and detailed meeting summaries.

o Track action items and follow up to keep projects moving forward.

o Maintain project schedules and task management systems using Asana.

o Organize project files, documentation, and records.

o Monitor project timelines and identify potential risks or upcoming deadlines.

Administrative Support

o Coordinate calendars and scheduling.

o Assist with invoicing, timesheet tracking, and project administration.

o Organize digital files and maintain consistent document management systems.

o Coordinate travel and meeting logistics when required.

o Format reports, proposals, presentations, and other project documents.

Communications

o Draft professional correspondence and client communications.

o Coordinate engagement activities and project logistics.

o Prepare newsletters, project updates, and presentation materials.

o Review documents for quality, consistency, and accuracy.

Funding and Proposal Support

o Research funding opportunities.

o Assist in preparing funding applications and supporting documentation.

o Coordinate submission requirements and application timelines.

What We're Looking For

Non-Negotiable

o Experience working for Indigenous governments, organizations, or businesses.

o A strong understanding of Indigenous governance structures and the unique legal, political, and cultural contexts in which First Nations, Inuit and Métis governments operate.

o Knowledge of the history and ongoing impacts of colonization in Canada, including residential schools, the reserve system, treaties, and the significance of unceded territories throughout British Columbia.

o An understanding of the principles of reconciliation and the importance of supporting First Nations self determination.

o A high degree of cultural humility, including a willingness to listen, learn, build respectful relationships, and recognize that every Nation has its own unique governance, history, priorities, and ways of knowing.

Required

o Based in Canada with access to reliable high-speed internet.

o Minimum two years of experience in project coordination, administration, project management, or consulting.

o Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

o Strong meeting coordination and minute taking experience.

o Experience using Asana or similar project management software.

o Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

o Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Preferred

o Experience supporting funding applications.

o Experience coordinating community engagement activities.

o Experience supporting strategic planning initiatives.

o Experience preparing proposals and reports.

o Knowledge of governance, infrastructure, housing, fisheries, economic development, or renewable energy projects.

The successful candidate is someone who:

o Takes initiative and follows through.

o Thinks ahead and anticipates project needs.

o Is naturally organized and detail oriented.

o Enjoys learning and solving problems.

o Communicates professionally and confidently.

o Is comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.

o Takes pride in producing high quality work.

o Wants to build a meaningful career supporting First Nations governments, organizations, and businesses.

o Is excited by the opportunity to learn directly from an experienced consultant while developing the skills to lead projects independently.

We're not necessarily looking for the person with the longest résumé. We're looking for someone who is curious, dependable, humble, takes initiative, and genuinely cares about doing excellent work. If you're excited by meaningful projects, continuous learning, and the opportunity to grow alongside a small consulting company, we'd love to hear from you.

Application Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must submit both a resume and a cover letter.

Your cover letter is an important part of your application. Much of this role involves preparing professional correspondence, meeting summaries, reports, funding applications, proposals, and other written deliverables. We are interested not only in your experience, but also in how you communicate, organize your thoughts, and present information.

Please prepare your cover letter using your own writing. While we recognize that artificial intelligence can be a valuable tool in the workplace, we ask that applicants do not use AI to write or substantially edit their cover letter as part of the application process. We want to understand your authentic communication style, critical thinking, and writing ability, as these are essential skills for this role.

Applications that appear to rely primarily on AI generated content may not be considered.

In your cover letter, please answer the following questions:

o What interests you about working with Snaking River Consulting?

o What are your long-term career goals, and how do you see this position helping you achieve them?

How to Apply

If this opportunity excites you, even if you don't meet every qualification listed above, we encourage you to apply. We value initiative, curiosity, and a willingness to learn just as much as experience.

Please submit your resume and cover letter to [email protected] no later than August 9, 2026.

Please include "Senior Project Coordinator – Your Name" in the subject line of your email.

Applications submitted without both a resume and cover letter will not be considered.
