Contract Category: 12x Month / One-Year Contractor Role / Maternity Cover)

Reporting to: Ireland’s national Transmission System Operator (TSO) Phase 2 Project Management and Controls Team Lead

Location: Dublin City. Hybrid (flexible) Desirable requirement 3 days in the office, 2 days remote.


Our client Develops, Manages, and Operates Ireland’s Electricity Grid. They are responsible for the safe, secure and reliable supply of Ireland’s electricity. Their job is to bring power from where it is generated to where it is needed throughout Ireland, onshore and offshore. Whilst they are not responsible for generating electricity or building windfarms, they are responsible for Connecting Electricity Generation Infrastructure, such as Offshore and Onshore Windfarms, into National Electricity Grid.


The Irish Government is taking major steps to make Ireland carbon neutral by 2050. These steps include a commitment to increase the proportion of electricity generated from renewable sources. Ireland’s Climate Action Plan places offshore wind at the centre of the State’s commitment to producing up to 80% of energy from renewable sources. As part of the Phase 2 South Coast Offshore Programme, the Irish TSO plans to develop an Offshore Electricity Transmission System to deliver up to 900MW of electricity from Offshore Wind Farm(s) (OWFs) off the south coast of Ireland.


Job Description

The role will be in the Offshore Phase 2 Tonn Nua Team, where the successful candidate will provide senior project management cover for the ongoing delivery of the Powering Up Offshore South Coast Phase 2 Tonn Nua project during a one-year maternity cover period. The role requires an experienced project manager who can develop an effective understanding of a complex delivery environment, maintain momentum across regulatory, governance and developer-facing workstreams, and provide strong coordination support to the Offshore Phase 2 team during a critical period of project development.


This is an active coordination and delivery role that provides support to the Project Management and Controls Manager and will require the successful candidate to work collaboratively across multiple teams and project workstreams, including project controls, legal, regulations, technical, consents and surveys.


Key activities include workstream coordination to prepare governance submissions and regulatory responses, as well as support the project controls team to identify and manage emerging risks, issues and decisions. The role also requires management of the external developer interface.


Key Responsibilities


Developer Interface

  • Coordinate and manage the external interface with the Offshore Wind Farm Developer.
  • Utilise existing processes and maintain clear records of engagement, data and information sharing exchanges. Support workstream leads to continue to utilise these same processes.
  • Support Coordination Across Marine Survey, Technical, Consenting, Comms & engagement, H&S, Project Controls Interface Workstreams.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of engagements across all work packages to support escalation following established processes.
  • Ensure internal messaging is aligned prior to engagements.
  • Work with counterparts in the developer team to coordinate, facilitate and record monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc meetings as required.
  • Initiate new interface points and interface processes as required to maintain collaborative ways of working, including practical implementation of planned change control process.
  • Identify emerging interface risks and dependencies and coordinate workstreams to assess and manage impact to project progress.


Project Governance and Regulatory Coordination

  • Prepare, review and present project governance papers, including coordination of project inputs from relevant workstreams.
  • Support project finance and accounting teams in monitoring progress and changes against cost forecast for 2026/7.
  • Support PMO and Group Regulations and coordinate with project workstreams to prepare inputs for regulatory engagements and milestone deliverables.


Workstream coordination and project delivery support

  • Maintain a working understanding of progress, risks and issues on all key work packages to support above responsibilities
  • Act as a key coordination point across work packages including project management, project controls, technical, marine surveys, consents, public engagement, regulation, legal and commercial.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience


  • Degree in Engineering, Project Management or related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer, PMP/Prince2 certification, NFQ 8, Relevant Leadership and Management Training.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience on Offshore Projects such as Transmission, Offshore Wind, or Major Regulated Infrastructure Projects.
  • Experience supporting regulatory or staged approval processes (Gateways).
  • Experience in managing interfaces with external parties including developers
  • Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Familiarity with Project Governance, Risk Management, Change Control, Cost Forecasting, Schedule Interfaces is desirable.
  • Able to coordinate inputs from senior stakeholders, specialist workstream leads, and external stakeholders to produce clear, well-structured deliverables.
  • Delivery focused, able to work effectively in a dynamic project environment with evolving priorities.
  • Able to escalate issues where decisions, approvals or senior direction are required.
  • Able to maintain continuity across multiple related but distinct workstreams.
